    • Impaler, honored messenger of the Yang,
You are always welcome in our chambers.

I will send an updated list of techs and current research next time we get the save.

Going for Alphabet next is wise indeed. Team Banana looks forward to the day when our nations can actually make these much discussed trades. We appreciate the sacrifice you are making by deviating from Fishing and Sailing. The path you proposed is being discussed but I am sure that Team Banana could make use of these technologies (Sailing and Fishing) in our protection and exploration of this land we call Musaceae Nostrum.

Team Banana humbly suggests you reconsider the trade of Iron Working for Fishing and Sailing. Instead, please consider the original intent of our proposal. Once trade of technologies is open to our nations all three nations (Banana, AC, & GS) freely gift technologies to eachother so that we all have the same technologies at the start. When Fishing is discovered we gift it to you. When you discover Metal Casting you gift it to us. When we discover Sailing or how to split an atom we will gift it to you. Please do not look at this agreement as trades of equal items in the short term but rather an open, free, and ultimately equitable exchange of technologies for all the peoples of Musaceae Nostrum.

GS mentioned this is the topic of much discussion. Do you have any insight into how they are leaning. Team Banana hopes to include GS in this agreement as well. I did not copy GS because you did not & I do not want to breech confidence if any was intended. Feel free to share these thoughts with GS while finalizing the agreement.

      Eternal Friends,
      -The Diplomatic Banana
      Now this is funny..
Sounds like they're thinking we're stupid or something, that we would give all our techs, regardless of value.

I think we could agree to a common 'pool' (though Im not sure how would that look like seeing how we'll be the only having Alphabet for some time) to which all teams contribute techs of equal value, but not this.

      • I think I should set up another IRC chat for this weekend, preferably around 21:00 - 23:00 GMT Saturday which would be 9 - 11 pm in Europe, 1:00- 3:00 pm in North America which would allow our Belgians to attend. If another time is better though lets see hear it. I'll send out invitations soon if thats agreeable to everyone.

Also I'm hoping their wont be any outbursts this time, I'm going to ask from the get go that all AC members observe the chat but communicate with me by a private channel.

Gives ourselves a more professional image.

I won't be able to attend though; I'm on holiday the whole weekend.

          • I may be able to attend at that time.

I think we should discuss with GS how best to manipulate Banana to our own ends.

Should we also openly discuss war against the banana? Wait for them to mention it first? Give specific times? These are not small matters and will need the authorisation of the team.

Might be premature, should gain more ground on the GS camp.

              Definitely not.
I would say no word until war actually starts.

                • My friends of the Gathering Storm & Alpha Centuri,

Here is the promised list of Team Banana's current technologies. As you see we need to come to a decision soon. Team Banana wants this open tech agreement but time is pushing us to make a decision on what to study next. Some agrue that we cannot neglect defense waiting for this agreement to be signed and begun - they argue for Iron Working next. Others argue that this would be redundant at best since Iron Working is discovered and harmful to the agreement at worst. We have sent our wisest to the mountain to smoke banana peels as is our way. Hopefully the Great Banana will give us a sign.

Would an exchange of screenshots and maps help? Gathering Storm, In which direction should we lay our roads so that trade can begin between our nations?

                    To our eternal friends,
                    To the followers of Yang,
                    To the Alpha Centurians,

Please accept this gift, a map of Musaceae Nostrum as we know it. You have always been open and sharing with the people of The Great Banana. We are excited that our nations' cities are so close. Trade should be able to begin very soon! Oh The Great Banana whose name dare not be uttered has blessed our nations!

                    • No wonder their tech rate suchs, they dont have a single cottage, nor are they even close to getting a Library built, I think they would be luck to even get Fising and Sailing before we got Alphabet.

Also they state they want IW for defense even though the Swordsman is terrible defensive unit, its even more an absurdity when Archery which they lack is the logical early defense and with they have stone in the southern city they could build walls their with Masonry. Their either deceptive or incredibly stupid.

The only Techs we could currently use from them are Meditation (useless) and Priesthood (Oracle if its not taken soon which I expect it will be).

I think we need to point out that we will ONLY trade quid-pro-quo and their failure to research something we want will mean their going to recive less from us.

I like the thoughts on a common pool of techs, each team must submit equal value to the common pool and these techs will be recived by all members. Inorder for a tech to count towards the pool the other two teams must lack the tech. The existence of the pool and trades their dose not preclude bi-lateral exchanges between any two members. By the time we have alphabet the techs each team could put in the pool would be or would soon be.

                      Centuri - Alphabet, IronWorking
Banana - Meditation, Priesthood, Fishing, Sailing
                      Storm - Masonry, Mathematics, Archery

In addition the following Bi-laterals would be possible

Centauri/Banana - Writing, Hunting / none from Nanas outside of pool
Centauri/Storm - Animal Husbandry / none from Storm outside of Pool

I take it we dont want to be trading Alphabet as it enshures that they cant bypass us on trade or trade with anyone off continent in the event they make contact with an off continent power lacking Alphabet. Theirs a good spirit of trust right now and we should be carfull to preserve it both to enhance our trading oportunities and decresse the liklyhood of military buildup from the Nanas.

I think our proposal could go something like this

When Centauri finishes Alphabets the other two teams will compensate by performing the following trades Bananas (IW, WRT for All Banana Techs) this will help get Banans tech rate up. Storm (AH, IW for MAS, MATH, ARC). Centauri will then gift ARC to Bananas and MED, FISH to Storm.

If so they don't know how much land is to the west of us (unless they've done some photoshopping, but we know their scout died anyway). They may not realise how little land we have, and keeping this from them may help us surprise them.

That's why we should definitely ask how long it would take them to research Fishing/Sailing or Monarchy before agreeing to any deal.

Anyway, I don't have any problem with trading Alphabet. Or to be more precise, I would be against a three-way deal unless we get compensated for being the ones enabling such a trade.

I remember Platypus Rex at AC forums and games.
He didn't seem much of a strategist, so I'd say second is a viable option.

But how would the pool work?
E.g. we know GS has Archery, now they submit it to pool, but it's worth in beakers is so low, we dont have anything to put forth.
Plus, all the techs will have to go through us as long as we are the only ones to own Alphabet.

Yes, we should try to delay trading it as much as possible, but not so much to annoy GS (dont care so much about nanas I guess).

When Centauri finishes Alphabets the other two teams will compensate by performing the following trades Bananas (IW, WRT for All Banana Techs) this will help get Banans tech rate up. The Banana deal seems not so well weighed, but it'd be ok, if not for archery - we shouldnt give it to them

We also may want to consider giving GS an extra cheap tech, just so they don't feel bad about us not sharing Alphabet. Anything to quell nye's paranoia.
