One more thing. Keep an eye out for galleys. They can slip them past us on the sea.

We have the save. Here is a screenshot of the war zone.
I have a message from Lego that most of their folks are away - so take our time. I will finish the turn tomorrow morning before I too leave town for a day.
Some points.
Velocyrix actually put a post up suggesting it was not too late for reconciliation.
I cannot see the southern GoW galley - so I assume it has gone south. Also - no sign of the northern one - which supposedly was 'switching' units.
GS has three swordsmen on the eastern mountains - I suggest we still close with our Immortals. With 100% defence bonus for mountains, that will be 3 attack vs 4. The galley has two immortals in it - we can drop them off on the most northern of the mountains - or move further south for an insertion closer to their cities and iron.
There is a road on the mountain tile north of Arashi. As Harry has pointed out - this will leave us open to chariot attacks - but at 2 attack factor - it should not be an issue. I recommend we close for battle.
In the north - new Immortals produced - which will head south.
Comments? Suggestions?Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

The Immortals in the Galley should land adjacent to the swordsmen. This way we will have all our Immortals on the East fighting them, instead of pairs of them."Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master" - Commissioner Pravin Lal.

650Bc turn played.
Screenshots:
Immortals on east coast advanced - and we have their iron in sight - where we expected it would be. The two Immortals are facing 3 swordsmen, but I still figure that is OK being in a mountain tile. They have Harry coming to back them up, and as Eli suggesrted, two more in the galley to land next turn.
As Jon said earlier - we need to take some risks - and that means exposing some troops to put pressure on both fronts.
Around Iron mountain - I am working to get a unit on each of the three mountain tops. And then a group of two or 3 immortals close by in case of a landing.
On the western front - we have entered GS territory next to Arashi. Also - the workers will be finished the first road in the tile they are in next turn.
Up north - as you can see - the troop production is in full swing. There are presently 7 warriors heading south. The next 2 turns will see 6 more produced. And a spearman from The Voice.
The worker has moved to improve another plains tile.
Question - do we want another galley - Elipolis can produce one in 3 turns using a pop rush, and still be able to churn out a warrior every second turn.
And - we need to think about the end-game scenarios. Velocyrix held out a fig leaf. I have agreed to discuss it with him later this week-end. My fear is that GoW's support is being guaged very carefully to ensure we win - but just barely. Takes out two civs. Also - Lego internal politics are a bit shakey right now. See the Lego FA file.
Happy easter weekend, one and all.Last edited by Beta; April 19, 2003, 08:10.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

It does not look like that Iron is connected by road."Do not honour the worthy, And the people will not compete. Do not value rare treasures, And people will not steal. Do not display what people want, And the people will not have their hearts confused. A sage governs this way: He empties peoples minds and fills their bellies. He weakens their wills and strengthens their bone. Keep the people always without knowledge and without desires, For then the clever will not dare act. Engage in no action and order will prevail."-Loazi "The Classic of The Way and Its Powers"

I am for making another Galley. I think it will be a big help."Do not honour the worthy, And the people will not compete. Do not value rare treasures, And people will not steal. Unless, of course, they may have a second source of iron already hooked up to fuel their swordsman production...and the chariot guarding the unroaded iron source is just a ruse to get us to attack the deposit for no real benefit to us...

Concerning Gs's chariot on the mountain without roads:
Yes, it looks like GS pilaged the tile after the chariot moved into position.
It is actually a brilliant move on GS's part. The chariot will receive the defensive bonus if attacked. If our forces try to bypass it by traveling via the low lands, the chariot will get first hit on us and retreat back to its orignial location (in mountains) - in this case, it doesn't matter that there arn't any roads on the tile. A chariot can move to grasslands and plains from mountainous terrain - The only stipulation to the rule is that chariots need roads to move into mountainous/jungle terain - but it doesn't require them to move out of them (unless it's moving to another mountain/jungle tile).
They are devious.

but does this mean that they have no source of Iron. I can't belive that they would disconnect there Iron just to get a better defensive position. unless they are hopping to do some warrior upgrads, which is a good possibility. either way I think we should aim for it as an important position"Do not honour the worthy, And the people will not compete. Do not value rare treasures, And people will not steal. Do not display what people want, And the people will not have their hearts confused. If another team has an embassy with GS, we should ask them to do a spy mission on Gs's captial. I think this is a wise course of action and should be done as soon as possible!
If intel shows iron in the stratigic box, then GS has another iron deposit already connected. If it shows no iron then you are right Macy - We need to seize the iron deposit guarded with the chariot ASAP.____________________________

I am sure that GS has disconnected their iron for the same reason that we did. They want to produce cheaper shield units (spearmen and warriors) and then upgrade them with cash. Which they can probably generate quite well. So getting that iron supply may be the key to all this. I expect they will defend it tooth and nail. Which should help us on the other front considerably.
We should pour troops into the eastern mountains as fast as we can. Which supports the production of the second galley.
Now - this all goes out the window if they have a second source. Or, if they are trading with someone for iron.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.
