Ok...We just need to remain on the alert for any possible infiltrators around our northern cities then.

730bc turn played.
Folks - I don't know what it is with this game - but the GS warrior who we had cornered committed suicide.Truly - he did. This should make for some good commentary.
Screen shots first:
Ok- had to work with this for a bit. The moves were the easy part. Let's start in the south.
With the GS warrior doing his suicide bit - Mo and Harry can move directly for the mountain chain. This would appear to be a small tactical error on their part. I though for sure they would move him to the west one tile - thus forcing our Immortals away from the mountain chain to get him. This seems like it would have been far more useful than denying us the remote chance of a unit promotion. Maybe all the Grog talk got to them. This is a good sign if pride is playing a part here, over reason.
The galley returns to iron mountain. Two Immortals - Argha and Kali moved to the mountain for pickup next turn. God speed argha. Do us proud. And get that iron supply. A vet spearman also moved down to protect the iron supply.
The remainder of the stack moved to Diss'ville as did one of the observer warriors. The other will be there next turn. There are now four warriors for upgrading next turn, and two the turn after that. The last warrior from the north cut the road to activate the Immortal 'pump'.
The vet spearman moved due south - and you can see what he sees. I contemplated the safer route one mountain in - but he is a vet - he is still in the mountains - he will be hard even for a swordsmen to take - and from what we see - there is no garrison presently in the city. So the worst he will see before he moves on or entrenches will be a chariot. Should be OK.
The other spearman in the city followed in his footsteps. You can see where their warrior moved to. Again - I'm not sure why. I suspect he is to se what comes out of the city. So..... in keeping with our falsified report - whatever we agree on - those units follow the spearman. The others move SE into the jungle tile - which cannot be seen from there - and which will get them to the same spot at the same time. That spot being the jungle tile with the GS worker on it.
The GoW (edit) galley is in the dark spot next to Eli's mountain. That's about it for the south - other than some more terrain info for planning.
I would suggest the main force still head for the city which we can now see - and three of the upgraded Immortals from the second wave head to Monsoon. By then it will be cut off - with no chance of egtting pikemen to it or upgrading the spearman who is there.
OK - the north. The first item of note is that the GoW galley is going over to the east coast. This is not what we agreed to from what I recollect. It may be Ghengis' way of meeting the demands of GS and the 8 tiles between galleys. But this is all sounding a bit contrived. Again - I say we go for it. If he lands two horsemen - we have enough roads and units to take them out. So I doubt that is what he is up to. I susepct he is checking things out as he goes.
So - the ver spearman produced last turn moves to the capitol. The settler heads for the city site. The worker starts improving a tile so we can hopefully avoid another lecture from Sir Ralph on what a miserable job we have done looking after our economy.
Now - city production. The Voice can put out a warrior in two turns. It produces 6 shields this turn, so we can actually move a citizen back and forth from the fish tile to gain one gold every second turn.
Miller Town had some 15 shields compiled, so it will finish a vet spearman. HH a warrior in two.
Elipolis shows a spearman in 3 but it will be two. It had 9 shields compiled, so switching to warrior was a big waste. It will produce 5 shields this turn, but then grow and be able to produce 6 the next - for 11 over two turns and a spearman. It can then roll back to warrior production.
Now Wittlich City. This is frustrating. It is producing 9 shields now - 10 with one corruption. By using the mined hill tile - we can get 11 shields, but 2 go to corruption. arrrggghhh. Sorry - not you argha. So - it can only produce 9 shields- which means two turns for a warrior, and three for a spearman - wasting mega shields. We could mine the other hill tile, but that would have taken 7 turns to do, inluding the move turn - and the city will grow on turn 8. Also - the worker has other things to attend to. So - left it on warrior. Two suggestions are another worker or a settler. Other than the build time - it won't impact our warrior production. Then again, it eight turns, Witt City will be where Miller Town is and able to pmp out a vet warrior in one turn - or with the iron connected and immortal in three. I say we stick to the Voice for workers and settlers.
Treasury at 410 plus 24 per turn. This will adjust significantly with the new city - it will lower our unit cost by 4, and raise gold prodction by 4 or 5.
And that is about it.
I am going to start a new thread in the public forum called the Vox Daily War Report. We can put things like the suicide in there, general outline, plus any and all mis-information we think might help.

I believe that's a typo - it should be GoW galley.____________________________

OK - Gs is declaring victory over Mo. It is possible that a chariot was in the shadows. He would have had to move two full movement points to get there. It is also not clear if any other attackers were killed first. Thanks to the wonderful fog of war.
So - what does Harry do. I suggest he take out the chariot. Yes - trading Immortals for chariots is not a good thing - but then again - maybe early on it is. Also, Harry is a vet - he should make short work of the chariot - and hopefully stand up better on defence.
And anything we can do to keep them committing their units piecemeal works very much to our advantage in the early game.
And - I would hate to pull Harry back - it delays the advance. And - tactically our trading of Immortals for chariots will appear un-wise to GS - agian supporting their sense of superiority. It will look like we are letting emotions dictate our actions.
The real drag about this is that it kicks in the in their GA, which we had hoped to delay by a few more turns.
So - are we agreed. Harry kills the chariot?Last edited by Beta; April 11, 2003, 19:59.Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.

I think that we are going to have to go all out to beat GS
it is not going to be easy
and we will have to take risks
especially early
I heard that are GA will not be as good as theirs
I Think that this is true, so we are going to have to hit them hard early

So you didn't move Harry and Mo back together.I suspect that road we see actually connects to the rest of their network. Because of the black tiile we can not see the connection.
Harry needs to pull back to the mountain so we can see if anything comes up the dessert. After the galley drops off the additional units on the other mountain chain then it can pick up Harry.
