And are you finally going to send me a PM that contains content and not insults?

Eh, I'll vouch for Panag. We have shared productive PM's.

See the "Open Letter From The Administration" post at http://apolyton.net/about or http://apolyton.net/forums/announcem...s=&forumid=31. The message addresses current technical issues with Apolyton's server, "Settler II".

Good to see that more RAM is coming. Nothing like a fresh stick of RAM to keep a server happy.

Or did you sugar-coat it in that old Dan-S way?

If anyone cared they would have realised it at the time. Dual Xeons are expensive and they needed to cut back somewhere.

Face it. The Dual Xeons were needed, as is the 1.5GB of RAM.

It kept Apolyton running, so it was a good move.
More memory now will be a bigger improvement.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

So now the apolyton server will be nearly as powerful as my home machine

                        A dastardly plan indeed.

Thanks for the information displayed in your open letter DanQ, I really appreciate being informed of the reason behind the repeated downtimes.

Surely branching threads would solve all of our problems.

There would certainly be no faster way to reduce the load due to traffic on this site than introduce branching threads.
