  • Actually, I'm considering bribing Antium on the northern Roman continent
    (safely away from their capital).

Diplomatic discussions will determine a lot...

Also interesting that all civs are in Republic -- except the (highly accessible) Greeks, who are of course, in Democracy.

We don't need their stuff, except (eventually) Chivalry. We also want to keep Warriors and Horsemen for incremental rushing, which we lose with Feudalism and Chivalry.

              • Maybe I'm having a premature senior moment but I thought the feudalism ship had already sailed......I am sure I remember using horsies as the entry level rush buying unit.

Still, if we really have all we need then I agree.......but I remember thinking there was some other tech I wanted to steal from the Romans.

                • Horseman is our cheapest buy-in for incremental purchasing.

Chivalry to be avoided to keep horsies active as buying unit? (Please confirm this is the case.)

IIRC, the Romans have University as an alternative target tech. I'll check it out before doing anything that will negatively impact caravan production.

Well, here's the result. some disappointments, but definite progress nonetheless.

Didn't want to waste dips stealing backward techs we don't need, so our progress on that front was limited. The hard part is getting into a state of war for unimpeded action. Darned AIs are suddenly polite!

anyway, here's the save. Turnlog coming...

                          • -Jrabbit turnlog 1740 AD

)It's 1660 AD, and President Bugs Bunny surveys the sweeping vista that is our democracy. he is well pleased to find 2063 GP in the coffers. Researching Corporation. Needing JSBach. With no one nearby to fight, he decides on a policy of growth. Goals are to get Bach's, fight whoever is willing to do so, and start some new cities away from the homeland. Shields are tickled, and the new 10-40-50 Tax Plan passes the Senate with aprovision that Magic Kingdom and other cities contribute some serious research specialists.

1670 AD -- Pop = 6.71 MM. Ten cities begin to celebrate. Hut = 100 GP. Caravans delivered to Caribbean Pirate (gold, 126 GP) and The Institute (Gems, 10 GP ). Bribed NONE ellie discovers Thessalonica. French build their 3rd city Appears only 3 cities can sustain growth. Tzintzuntzien renamed Tzintzeltown. The Mickey Mouse Canal regains its proper name.

(Sorry, gotta take a call. More in a few minutes...)

                            • turnlog continues...

1680 AD -- Foolish rabbit creates disorder at The Institute. Pop. = 7.74 MM, research @ 5 turns. caravan tickling continues. engineer joins Tzintzeltown to avoid starvation. dip;omat heads toward Antium, hoping to bribe it and its (worthless) WoW to our side, creating a northern outpost in the process. Celebrations won't sustain unless... we go to 30-10-60...

1690 AD -- Pop = 7.93 MM. Aztecs notw we have violated Tlaxcala -- we are properly chastised. Greeks start on Women's Suffrage. chinese ironclad attacks Tzintzeltown, kills musk but dies vs. our clad (bribed last turn ).
Celebrations complete. new tax plan = 70-10-20, research at 7 turns. capture barb king +150, find Greek city of Troy in plains south of Disneychina.

1700 AD -- We discover The Corporation. Hmm. Many choices. Best of the lot are Communism (for Espionage), Conscription, Electricity (toward electronics and Hoover). Pop = 7.93 MM. We choose... conscription, cuz we always do that. Preparations for JSB etc continue...

(AOL ready to kick me off. Posting this and returning shortly...)

                              • The exciting conclusion...

1710 AD -- Pop = 7.86 MM (dropping??? ) Chinese get conscription. Indians start JSB. Coal delivered to Tlacopan from shiny new Transport = 84 GP. Gold to euroDisney, 66 GP. Tax rate adjusted to 50-30-20. Settlers begin to gather for trip to the new northern island region, tentatively dubbed Canadian Disney. Chinese demand 650 gp for befouling "their" lands. We decline and are "warned" for our insolence... No war??!!!!????

1720 AD -- Pop = 7.79 MM. New govt coming to France and China. chinese clad sneak attack = WAR Many barbs noted on Greek island nation. J.S.Bach's Big Thingy built in magic Kingdom. marketplace for Orlando. Romans blunt dip attack on Veii by turning Democratic -- the bastards!!! so we steal University instead. Greek cat nears Caribbean pirate. Coal delivered to magic Kingdom = 165gp. senate forces peace treaty with Romans -- and Greeks :hmm: .

1730 AD -- Pop = 7.64 MM. With Bach's in place, time to celebrate some more (as we don't really have anyone we can fight at the moment... ) Taxes set to 20-10-70, ten cities get very happy. Gift some techs to the pathetic French, get their maps in return. they are FAR FAR away and have not met other civs. romans convert to Fundy. aquaducts being built -- Orlando, donald duck, moose, matterhorn, eurodisney. Transport heads toward Xochicalcas with dye (plus bonus diplomat ). Ships try desparately to chain up and get settlers moving toward their new northern homeland.

1740 AD -- Pop = 8.27 MM and still growing (9 cities celebrating). Should get conscription next turn. aztecs, romans, Chinese trade all their advanced techs. Huts yield 100gp, then 100gp two settlers reach new northern homeland -- one ready to build, the other planning to start road on wheat space. more settlers coming to join ellie, camel, and dip already exploring the island.

Things are a bit foggy for President Bugs, so he sleeps.

We've started to build freights and engineers in earnest. Left a nice nest egg for future Presidents to play with. southbound clad is trying to backtrack where the chinese came from. Probably further west... Did not have time to get into serious RR building which would speed the trip of 3 camels to SW corner of home continent. Freight heading for Aztecs and Romans).

Two more settlers should be landed on norther territory next turn. we should have several cities (ready to accept trade goods!) in short order. My plan to bribe a major city (Antium) failed miserably. I also regret not going for communicsm, as spies are just SO much more effective when you can't seem to find a decent war...

                                ( * awaiting robust critiques... * )
