At least tell us you've downloaded, lad. It's been a week since your last post in this thread.
    The world awaits.

            • If you take longer than 1 week you have to write a letter to the academy explaining the delay. Please be advised using hard drive failures as an excuse has already been taken.

                State of the Nation Address
Our trading empire is now the finest in the world! Markets more than doubled to 12, and new routes raise intercity trade by a third. Settlers are improving the land. Our warships press toward our enemies, and our sailors brave shoals and shores to find new lands.

I petition the Senate, and my distinguished successor, to build the glorious pipe organ that Songmeister Laureate Bach has envisioned for us. The Indians have already started to build one, determined to seduce him to their lands.

Planting forests near MK so we'll be back up to 10 shields, and near shield-impoverished SW. With a few more turns I would send a Settler or two for new cities on the continent just discovered, and replace them with Engrs for all the yardwork. There's plenty more of that needed.

I can't believe I didn't raise lux seeing two civs were already researching RR. And I forgot to drop science to nothing and hold the caravans until Darwin was finished. D'oh! Headed for the mop closet at The Institute.

                • Where it belongs

Really I'd do more than that with a few more turns: pump out Engrs and disband Orlando so it can be built in a more practical location... where it won't interfere with management of the Mickey Mouse Canal!

                  • Most perplexing.

I'm getting that mysterious trade route bug again. For example, here's what I see in the city windows for Magic Kingdom and Steamboat Willy. If I reload and look don't open any cities (or ony MK) the total trade is 67, with the SW route being +7. If I open any other cities MK trade drops to 65 and the route shows as +5.

I tried quitting and reloading just before hitting [Enter] for the new turn, but I don't think it helped.

                      • This should be pretty interesting. Spotless rep, win by conquest. I haven't seen the map since 540AD (end of my first turns). since it's giga-, I expect to see many new and wondrous things.

Re JSB -- It's a WoW I rarely (if ever) build in my solo games.
Please offer your reasons why we should build this so I can make a semi-informed decision.

And isn't Corporation the key tech to massive trade payoff increases?

                        • JSB will be critical for democratic conquest, since the effect is applied after units have been made unhappy due to combat units being away from home, and hence can mitigate this effect. This is not the case with Mikes.

Freight's payoff = 1.5 * payoff of the corresponding caravan

Well, I opened it up and had a look around. Actually looked like a pretty normal progression from my previous go-round. Could it be that this game is being played roughly in "my" style?

Summary of Conditions: We are a Spotless Democracy with 2063 GP, turning a lovely profit @ 40-40-20. At peace with all but the Romans -- so at least there's someone to fight! Just started Corporation, research = 6 turns @40%.

Pop = 6.71 MM but we are actually 2nd in Land Area to the filthy Greek pig-dogs. Need new settlements!

Indians and Chinese both building Bach's Big Organ, so we'll be needing to rush some camels (fortunately, have cash ). Currently 12 are in production, along with 3 engineers, 2 muskets, and a couple of marketplaces. Hmm.

Notably needed techs -- Military!!! Conscription, Leadership -->> Tactics. University, Ironworking also MIA.

Tinkering suggests we can do some celebrating at 10-40-50. Will think about that prior to hitting "Enter."

                              Tonight -- We play.

More importantly at least there's someone we can borrow tech from without losing spotlessness.
