IMO we should throw SlowThinker out!! Unfortunately, I cannot completely trust what he says, and cannot confirm that he cheated without cheating myself.

Anyway.. what does "barbarian" mean ? Just one, or a horde?

Actually, I was thinking it might be fun to allow people to open the whole map or just the barbie map once we get a real horde, just during the test game, of course. Let me know what y'all think. Should be unanimous, though, I'd say.

I (Hittites) should get a message if they appear in/near explored areas. But in my solo tests, I did not always get one. And I don't think later players get any messages. What I did get when a big horde came was a flashed message - something like "AI moving" whenever a horde was operating on map. I just started turn 9, so 3-4 more turns, I suspect, before it's even possible to get a big horde.

Yes, the Storm is one missile type air unit, IIRC (event file generated). It's fast and will kill most everything but the Palace Guard, then disappears. At times I've thought it was random, other times it seemed to seek out the largest vulnerable stack. It sometimes gets stuck outside unoccupied cities or takes a break in on-map forts. So if you see it, attack, it's got no defense, I think.

Anyway, nothing exciting for the Minoans this turn. But the Hittites found two huts (horse, alphabet) and two wimpy red men who become willing slaves after donating cash to the Hittite cause. Two other red men were left alone since they looked bigger than me and since the wimpy red men fought surprisingly hard (remember we're playing at Deity, so barbs are a bit stronger than if you're used to King or Emp level.

So, Plat, if you're game, try again. Drop us a post, please, if you know won't be able to play, though, so Pal doesn't have to wait the full 24 hours.

Played both Bab and Assyrian turns,

Bab-nothing, preparing to attack a barb town once skirmishers get into possition.
Assyria- captured some slaves, popped two huts; pottery and a barb horseman(destroyed).


BTW took the trouble and played through 3300BC-continuously pressing ctrl-n and enter.

Barbs do appear around 3360 or 3370BC. Thats one issue solved.

I'll be leaving for Thessally tommorow evening only to return on Monday evening. If my turn comes up untill then please do play it. For whoever plays it i plan on building a city at 104,36.

Yah, that's what my solo tests have indicated also. But for some reason, production environment games, have been barb free. Those were generally .net games, though. But I've tested .net games, too, in a test environment, and have been able to generate barbies, albeit much more rarely. So there is a possibility that there is something about the production environment, or someone's configuration, or some external program that is causing barbie free games. But I will certainly breathe a sigh of relief when we see our first barbie horde or even just a pirate
