    Subject: Nuclear Research

There appears to have been some alarm caused by our successful conclusion of a long running project aimed at producing safer and more efficient energy from Uranium. We plead with you all to calm your nerves as the side-effects of using high energy nuclear power, 'Super-Fast Breeder Mobile Reactors', have been greatly exaggerated. Mild doses of radiation are highly unlikely to kill fit adults at distances of 30-40 miles from the epicentre though research does indicate diminished fertility, good news for over-populated areas, an increase in baldness and a few longer term medical conditions. Even within the immediate area of use most people are unlikely to suffer much beyond a state of shock before they cease to care at all about anything.

    End of Despatch

    • Egypt announces that any submarine approaching her shores will be looked upon as act of war, and we will destroy them without questioning. (the maximum distance they are tolerated is the movement of the submarine +5)

      • Reminder to Sumeria

        Dear Gilgamesh,

The Gondorian Parliament is in uproar over your completion of the MH project. We believe it to be an ill wind that blows no good.

Gondorian policy for some time was to remain in a pact with you for defensive purposes only, along with Mongolia.

Sumeria renewed our defensive pact one period before completing the MH project. Gondor regards this as a slap in the face. Further, you have chosen to cancel some of our metals deals without discussion. On the one hand we think it only fair and reasonable for you to recover some of your metal resources but discussion and dialog is a very important thing between friends.

Please refer to the previous announcement on Gondorian policy positions.

You do not realise the cataclysmic change that building the MH project has done for this world. As they say, it's a game changer. [!!]

If Gondor is attacked we do not expect any help from Sumeria regardless of this newly signed agreement, nor will Gondor aid Sumeria if attacked. Of course we are incapable of fighting each other which is a totally unthinkable outcome but Gondor will attempt, despite the circumstances and dare I say (and what many in Mount Doom are saying) that your act was both treacherous and sneaky!

Let us see how we can get over this dire sequence of events...

        • Strider,

Sumeria has not acted in any way sneakily or treacherously. The presence of over 70 Russian divisions in Gondor was hardly friendly and the pretence you make of being so afraid of attack that they were needed was rubbish! Gondor may not be a large nation but it does have a large and modern army which could easily deal with any neighbour except, of course, Russia. That even allows for the risk of Gondor being attacked to be realistic. Where is this potential invader? Babylon is too distant to count and none of your near neighbours has anything to gain from attacking you.

As for Manhattan, I made the offer to keep it 1 year from completion indefinitely but the result was a city subjected to rioting almost continuously due to foreign agents. The 'nation responsible' made their own bed and forced me to complete the project as the city could not build anything else due to disorder.

It is sad, as you say a 'game changer', however everyone is in the same boat. Wars will now be far less casually entered into as already there are enough of these devices to make even border disputes far riskier.

Time for careful words and deep thought before any deed is done. Anybody's next mistake will almost certainly be their last mistake.

            • Looks that way.

Lot's of missed turns now from everyone now so who is to tell if it is lack of interest or some form of problem?

                • The Desertlord will rule the world.. as it should be.

We dominate through power.. our armies were always victorious even against overhelming enemies, tough many has died they always took twice as many with them.. all to be my slaves in the other world.
Egypt dominates with science, even if others was able to come close we are still the most advanced of all. Technological superiority helped our soldiers triumph always.
Egypt victory will be a diplomatic vicotry. While others just talked Egypt was ready to act, but when we needed we had our ways in diplomacy too. We managed to convince the world that our "crusade" was for their benefit while it always served one goal: to weaken those who could stand against us, to ensure our final triumph.
And Egypt will dominate with her culture, with our influence which shall teach the world the proper way, that war and conflicts make nations stronger, while ignorance leads to decadence.

                  Desertlord

OOC, one last(?) ic bragging . Really hoped it would turn out a big war in the end, but it doesn't look like we will have it.. too bad.. I did not plan to go for culture, i started the whole thing in 1800 AD untill then my cities had around 10k culture and in less than a hundred years I was able to build it up. (one of my city produces 1780 culture per turn now, and it only has 6 cathedrals, there is an other with 7 but less base commerce) So when I saw that I could not defeat the already existing big alliance I started to work for a reason to have them come to me. Poor babylon had to be invaded so a third party wouldn't just vote for them in order to stop my cultural victory.
I guess you could still stop me.. not giving tips how . I'm too not really sure if there is enough interest in the game still.

                  • Congrats, Egypt!
I'll just finish the game b/c why would we stop it instead of finishing it, if we're so close!

                            • IC I can say I will win, I do that for thousands of years, and i only do it to provoke you . OOC I said it didn't look like anyone would do anything, and that 15 turns actually 3 from now.

                              • you're done in 3 turns or in 15+3 = 18 turns?
If it's 3 then I need to start my campaign for world domination really quickly! (I need 40% of the land mass, right?)
So, any nation wants to give up all their territory to stop Egypt from winning the game?
