    • In the last week I have had a major crisis with both my closest neighbours - first the Egyptians where we both had settlers rushing to the same spot, and I got there one turn ahead, which nearly caused a conflict (and who knows maybe the Eygptians are sharpening their chariot wheels this very moment). And more recently with the English who accused me of using our open borders treaty and missionaries to spy out their land, and so closed borders ejecting the missionaries with much bad feeling on both sides, but it has been resolved and we are back on (I hope :-) ) So there are certainly in-game stories coming from Byzantium.

      • Those who wrote those religious stories are the most active posters anyway and as it was said they write about ingame events as well. I'm more concerned about those who don't post anything or just 1-2 posts per month. Come on.. be more active, it's fun

Btw I like that the game has strong religious aspects so far. People did crazy things in the past in the name of their Gods, it can make the game more interesting.. considering what crazy things we can expect from the followers of a crazy religion

Don't mock your elders or impugn their honour young man! I may be 96 but still in surprisingly good health which goes to show what healthy regular exercise does for you.

At this time nothing much is happening either to me or around me in DoC. I have done nothing wondrous or beaten off huge Barbarian Invasions so what would you have me write?

Any that know me from BtP must know that I am not a lazy poster but I refuse to sing the praises of my first Library as World-breaking news. All I can do is try to make up a few little tales so the World does not forget my Civ even exists. Price you pay for being a long way away from the action!

Exactly, which is why the followers of the hairy hog need to be encouraged to convert to the truth faith. :-)

I think this will be my last civ game ( cheers from everyone i can hear it)

I cant compete and when ever i suggest ways of making it fun for the less skilled the smarter ones just make fun of us.

so i will complete this one, but alas civ is not for me.

You are unfair Rasputin to me. I have a weaker neighbor but I have aided them not hurt them which I could easily do. Inca could attack another as well but gave open borders when I got no trade as lacking sailing then.

I am not a very great player but do not ask India to be kind to me just because they are bigger and better. If you can not win at war then be a good diplomat. Make it so that you are to good as an ally to attack.

Most of all do not be nasty at people for having more points. No reason for people to be ashamed of being good at Civ and no reason for you not to have fun by making things happen near you.

I never thought for one second that this game was about competition. I always thought it was about fun, and expected other civ players to be much better than me from the start. I don't see that as a problem, rather as much more of a challenge to come up with fun posts and to play a much more diplomatic game. As I see it, winning is probably the least important part of a diplo game, it is more about the fun you can have with posting crazy stuff and coming up with funny stories and seeing them reflected on an actual game map. Who cares whether you remain the underdog during the entire game? Someone has to fulfill that role, and I am happy to be among the lower scum It reflects the actual situation in real life, where you have mighty nations, and less mighty nations, with all the diplomatic consequences that such a situation has. I rather have that difference, than having everybody be on the same level, which I think would be less fun story wise, and less realistic. Shame that you focus on the points, you shouldn't, you are keeping yourself from having fun.

                        • ok i made asuggestion that Robert belittled by calling it Communism. This is the action i was referring to in the cleverer palyers making fun of the not so lcever ones.

No ingame actions were being referred to Mr . INCA. so please dont respond in game charavter to an out of character suggestion.

This is the problem with ANON. people take everything as personal in game and forget that we have thoughts outside of the game itself.

I used to love Civ and especially Diplo, but it has moved on developed (better everyone out htere says) but its change in itself means that as a weaker player i am no longer able to do as much as i used to.

I am not good at diplomacy, or at war or even empire building. what i was good at was posting about in game activities.

Posting about in game activities is now such a small part of the game that my main good part is now worthless and whislt everyone is different , for me to enjoy something greatly you have to feel you are ok at some part of it.

if you start to feel that you are not good at anything then it is not fun anymore.

Again yes it is because i suck that i feel this way so need to put me down or make comments about my ability or even my intelligence i am aware i have none.

And in repsonse to the egyptians wh othinks i am focused on points. not at all , the early dipl ogames had no points at all so were fun in their own right. but my request here ws to be able to get some techs to enable us to have something to do.

The land is already nearly full. The surrounding areas of my citys are being worked. what do we do next. ?

Writing crazy stories to me just isnt diplo. so as i said i am not enjoying the weirdness it has become. making a mockery of religion for the sake of the game. Sacrificing children which i have 3 off is offensive to me, but to a lot of others it is funny apparently.

I wil lplay on , as i know it affects others to lose players. but this game has evolved further than even BtP and it has gone in directions that are not conducive to my fun.

I think the feelings you harbor is because you expect the game to be played a very certain way, your way. When it is not, you complain about it not being fair.

I find this game to be much fairer than BtP, although I did have a problem with diplomacy ratings. The problem I saw was not with the game itself but how people viewed the rating of 4 being the neutral selection. I think that has been cleared up. We will see next month.

How can you say this? Story is half of the game (even if it is represented as a fourth of the total score). If you aren't writing the story then you are making your turn in the game.
