  • Khmer, I'm sorry but portugal did indeed not break the rules. He waited 7 hours.
Portugal has agreed that Khmer can move first next turn to give Khmer the #1 order in the turn order again. (which gives Khmer a doublem move!)

I think that's kind of Portugal. And I think it's kind of you that you agreed with no reload.

If Portugal can tell me when he's ready to finish his 1828 move then we're all settled.
I'll then pause the game and load it tomorrow morning so that we can have the normal play schedule again.

Once again, it was my fault, I shortened the turn-timer to make it fit with the 24h schedule again, which was stupid. Next time this happens I'll just enlarge the turn timer to make it fit within the 24h order again. Another lesson learned (the hard way).

Please Khmer, do not say those things about Portugal!
Portugal really did nothing wrong, not even his intentions were bad.
And Portugal, your response to Khmer is not too nice either. Please all try to keep in mind that when a dispute arises we first need time to find a solution. Please refrain from calling names etc.
Believe me, I've been there, and in your head things become easily quite paranoia, I even believed at a certain moment that some of you hacked my server account. But in the end there's just a problematic turn of events caused by this bane called 'double move'.

Regarding the double move rule, we can add something like: "Players never double move, unless 9 hours have passed and someone really can't wait any longer"
Which means: I wait 18 hours for Rome to move, if I have to, but if I can't wait that long then I'm allowed to move after 9 hours. (or 12 or 15 or whatever fits me).

    • Robert,

I presume you meant that you are waiting for me to tell you when I can play. Now obviously is possible, but you aren't around so that isn't going to work.

The best I can offer is 8.30 London time tomorrow morning i.e. just over 9 hours time. I hope that will work in terms of getting the timer back on track.

      • I want to take my turn( the next) around that time too ... oh, come on Rome.. you were already logged in in this turn 4 times for more than 2 hours.. want to double check whether you can still kill some more spartan? Mercy!!!

        • Ok, seriously, what is going on now? It seems we've reached a compromise in the Khmer-Portugal double move thing, can we move on? The timer has had 1 hour left for half a day now.

Patience is a virtue - bit like self-denial but slightly less painful.

            • I'd also like to point out that the shortened turn that screwed everyone up has now stretched to 34 hours....

              • I can't accept that Cyber.

I think we should draw a line on this sad and pathetic game and get the parameters right for the future; although restoring some badly broken relationships is a problem.

This is an academic debate which is better taken as a lesson over to your thread on a possible new game.

I always reckoned that this rule-set would fall apart if you had multiple wars happening at the same time as you cannot control the game based on 'good-will' and 'spirit of the game'.

I pity Cyber here as he cannot do right for doing wrong. Whatever the beef between Khmer/Portugal a re-load could harm Rome/Russia/Wyandot/Greece/Japan none of whom have done anything wrong.

I don't know what the answer is but I think it OTT to suggest that Deity/Toni, Capo/Pinchak/Cyber or mzproz/Cyber/Jon should have trouble 'restoring some badly broken relationships' just because we had radically different interpretations of what the Rules were or what the definition of 'fair play' was. A lot of harsh words have been exchanged in BtP - and I'm as guilty as anyone - but I hope that we are all adult enough to get over them.

                    • deity: We can't reload because no rule has been broken. Please accept that Portugal tries to help you by giving you position in turn order again.

@Ozzy: indeed, longest short turn ever

Rome: pm me when ready! (that'll give me an e-mail notification which triggerst me most quickly)

                      • Ok, there were some troubles unpausing the game because I was in a trade screen myself as well. I tried to get things going by logging in as Maya which didn't work either (very old trade screen there as well ). Anyway, I then just loaded the game from the save I made before pausing it, so now all is fine again.

                        Bottom line: we're running again!

                          • You are at war with me and Japan, if I'm correct, but since I do not believe that Spain and Japan/Sparta are in conflict anywhere or have units near each other, I'd say: play whenever you want.

If you intend to strike against us you'd better wait till both Sparta and Japan have played (next turn, which starts in about 30 minutes). (or wait till 6 hours have passed)

                            • Oh well...

I'll try not to bore you all with too much more rantings but I can not believe I have no support here and Toni is playing the good guy matey routine.

You are all playing the "rules" mantra. It's indecent and dishonourable. I would never have done this in Toni's shoes. Turn order is paramount over anything else otherwise it's going to keep happening and there will only be a last man standing in this game.

I had an Airship in Nuremberg quite deliberately; I would have spotted the transport/units; I would have airlifted one Modern Armour if I saw the Portuguese approaching. He knows this and is taking full advantage of this contrived double move while I was asleep. Its a big deal because it's my Aluminium city.

He even argued about me taking the next turn even though I didn't accept the offer from Cyber. And for Toni to offer it now, probably under Cyber's recommendations, is fake. Besides it's in Khmer's best interests for Portugal to move next, preserving the newly created reverse turn order (i.e. Khmer/Portugal/Portugal/Khmer)

Can't you see where he's coming from? [ EDITED OUT ]

This game is a screwed up disaster despite Cyber's best (sometimes worst) efforts.

I'm sorry if I let anyone down here but my conscience will not allow me to continue from this point. This is not sour grapes despite the way it will be presented. It is about basic sporting fairness and decency. Rules have been intepretted ad hoc in this game and count for little.

I have offerred extreme fairness to all comers in this game and always acted in the best interests of the game which conflicted with Khmer's advantages. It's a shame that this is now a blot on my record. Sorry again and bye.
