  • Ok, 7 players say "4" Greece, Portugal, Metalheads, Japan, natives, Spain and Rome

    It's impossible that another option gets a majority now so I say we continue.

    TEMP RULE UPDATE:
    We have 48 hour turns during wartime.
    If after 42 hours the first player first in the turn order did still not move we pause the game. (this is very unlikely, but we must figure out a good rule, hence this is temp)

    No double moves at all during wartime (incl. turn before).

    Jeroen's friend (name?) can play Maya, England is being played again. If he's going to miss turns again I'll just put him on auto.
    Jeroen: what's his name, then I can send him Maya login info.

    I'm going to start the game now. All observe turn order.
    Which is:
    #1: Sparta / Japan
    #2: Rome / Russia (/Natives if they declare war) (/Spain as long as war vassal of Rome)
    #3: Maya

    #1: Khmer
    #2: Portugal

    • Game's up (20 minutes for 'old' turn), I've sent the Maya login info to Jeroen.
      I'm going to be away for the next couple of hours (3 a 4) and will play my turn after that.

      I did not edit the opening post yet for a rule update, for now the post above says it all. I'll edit the op when I'm home.
      I'll also send a pm to deity then.

      I hope that this fix will be ok with deity, if not then we'll see

      • For the record, I Abstain. I cannot choose as unless there is Deity only Option 5 applies. If Deity agrees then Option 4 is the the best, and only fairish, choice.

        I cannot genuinely say I don't care at all, I have put a lot of effort in, but my indifference grows by the day.

        • I am so glad you are continuing even though I think the game is seriously flawed but a next game should be close to perfect and I really need the community to stick together. A few hatchets might need to be buried though...

          I have to rush off and will post a bit more later today and I will think about your proposals. The double move was a catalytic event in our house hold and fleshed all manner of crap.

          Portugal can play their turn though and I do not want Nuremberg (do not gift it to anyone). If it isn't me playing Khmer then the same can apply.

          More on all this later...

              • Hi everybody :-)

                I'll be taking over the "Great Maya Empire"......
                I've never played this kind of CIV but doing not-immediatly-related-to-a-game-stuff is my favourite pass time.
                I'll probaly make some stupid beginner mistakes (but I'll try my best not to)

                p.s. I'm waiting for a BTs CD right now (thanks Spain :-)

                      so I can asses the situation I'm in :-)

                        • Now, as I was saying, the result of Cyber reducing the timer on the last turn has had a repurcussive effect the likes of which God has never seen!! It's an amazing example of how real world wars can start and human behaviour.

                          But in our case I think a lot of good has come out of it in the way we frame future games. The flipside is the bad feeling generated. Some of you know my RL circumstances and they are not good with family issues but I'm not making that as an excuse for my behaviour.

                          Without that double-move everything with the game would have proceeded normally and none of this discussion would have occurred.

                          I'm worried that you all think it's sour grapes on my part but the only thing that effected my decision was the double move - nothing else. But I did bring up some stuff in posts that was bothering me; and in discussions at home it lit a fuse. "I take too long on the computer" etc etc.

                          Now, I'm probably older than all of you and getting even slower and it's driving me nuts. Pitboss is the pefect solution for me but even now I can log in for hours to do my turn! I have to train myself to be quicker if I'm allowed by HER to continue...

                          A bit of arm twisting behind the cyber scenes and the fact that I'm letting players down weighs heavy on me. I should see out the war with Portugal but his offer for that city is not on. What I would prefer is Toni's genuine acknowledgement that Khmer had x% chance of spotting his units in the turn I missed. If he says it's 0% I'll accept that but after the game can Toni please post the route taken - take a screen shot.

                          But my current perspective is that I did have a good chance of saving Nuremberg and a clear strategy in place to protect it despite what Toni says.

                          But we'll never know now and I don't want charity.

                          A good rule has come out of all this that preserves the vital turn order which will strengthen all future games.

                          I will play for at least another week and try to see out the war. Maybe after that it gets easier and I get quicker with my turns and spend less time here writing garbage.

                          In which case SHE might ALLOW further play!! But seriously we are nervous wrecks in our household, so sorry about everything.

                          It's amazing how this game refuses to freaking well die!!

                          • Thanks a lot deity!
                            I'm glad that you want to try another weak! It takes courage to reconsider a decision.

                            I'm really glad that you're returning, at least for a while!
                            I hope, of course, that it'll be till the end at least (and into the next game as well).

                            • New rule, please comment, especially on spelling:

                              - No double moves during war-time
                              Civilizations that are at war or want to declare war have observe the turn order which is set the turn before the war starts.
                              To ensure that all involved players have enough time to play their turn during these circumstances the turn-timer will be set to 48 hours during wartime.
                              If 6 hours before the turn timer expires the first player to play his turn still did not play the game will be paused till this player can play his turn.
                              Players at war can not login to the game anymore after they have ended their turn.
                              Players must immediately leave the game after ending their turn.

                              Examples:
                              Code:
                              Turn x-1: [color=red]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=blue]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                              Turn x:   [color=red]Player 1 declares war and ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=blue]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                              turn x+1 till peace
                                           [color=red]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=blue]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                              or

                              Code:
                              Turn x-1: [color=blue]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=red]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                              Turn x:   [color=blue]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=red]Player 2 declares war and ends turn[/color]
                              turn x+1 till peace
                                           [color=blue]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=red]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                              The only exception is when Player 1 ends turn first in turn x-1 but decides to declare war after player 2 ends his turn in turn x:

                              Code:
                              Turn x-1: [color=red]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=blue]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                              Turn x:   [color=blue]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=red]Player 1 declares war and ends turn[/color]
                              turn x+1 till peace has been signed
                                           [color=blue]Player 2 ends turn[/color]
                                           [color=red]Player 1 ends turn[/color]
                              If more players are involved the same rules apply.
                              Players can change the turn order during war if both agree to in a clear public post in the organization thread.

                              If during war any civilization misses two turns in a row a temp-sub will be assigned for this civ.
                              When the turn-order has been violated the turn will immediately be reloaded by the host without debate or discussion.
                              The last save available before the violation happened will be used for this reload.

                              • I have a recomendation:

                                -Turn lenght: 24h

                                -Everyone who is at war plays in the same time window every time (when there is only two party this could be 12h-12h window, would be best if you set this clear at the begining of the war)

                                -If they cant play in the usual time and they know in advance then they should post in the org thread and select one of these options:
                                a, they should agree somehow with their opponents (delaying move, changing turn order etc.- everyone should agree on this or an other option must be selected

                                b, they should ask for a pause(s) to extend the turn to 48h (pausing when nobody plays)

                                c, if none of the above helps, 48h is not enough then the player should get a sub

                                -If you notice that your opponent is not moving when he should and he hadnt said anything in the org. thread then you should ask for pause in his name to lenghten the turn to 48h. ( i think we should limit how many turns a player can pass/month without warning in advance)
