  • Suryavarman,

I understand that you intend to end all trade relations between our two great empires.
So be it. If you think that Sparta can influence all other Anti Emancipation Treaty members to start trading with the Maya again, you are wrong.
Not only because we can't, but also because we would not even try to if we could.

You talk about a pact against the Maya.
This is foolish. The Pact was made even after consulting the Maya, who back then opposed adopting Emancipation.
If you are so concerned about hostilities, why do you not look into the Mayan attempts to put all their espionage efforts on Sparta, doubling their output?
It is not Sparta that is hostile towards the Maya. It's the Maya themselves who are isolating themselves from world politics by adopting Emancipation and refraining from diplomatic communications regarding colonies and espionage.

You use the Maya as your puppets on our continent.
Not even at their best interest, but only at your own interest.

It was a pleasure to trade with you.
We will find other routes now.

    King Orestes of Sparta

    • The rings of uranium

Nobunaga Oda and all intersted nations.

It is true that Khmer has mapped almost all of the worlds resources of coal, oil and uranium.

Soon, many others will also have this knowledge but I must say to you that the Khmer can not share this information at this stage.

The request for Physics will be transferred to you when the knowledge of Uranium is more open but rest assured that Skull Island (or Serenity Island - what did you and the HRE agree on?) has a deposit.

Khmer aims to help all natons of Terra and has an excellent track record but in this case we must err on the side of caution. Afterall our nations are not close in any way and Japanese words have often been harsh against Khmer.

Japan has done well with its' trading and I congratulate you on your efforts.

      • Suryavarman of the Khmer,

I do not understand your concerns about the Anti Emancipation Treaty at all.
You talk about the 'Mayan strategy and goal' to adopt Emancipation. That should be a reason for us to accept it? We have thieves and murderers who have the 'strategy and goal' to steal money and kill citizen.

Should we let the Maya adopt Emancipation only because they want it so badly?
That's ridiculous. The reason for our pact is that Emancipation causes unrest and riots in our nations. We do not want to trade with nations that adopt politics that cause unrest in our nations.

We don't know of any religion or other form of politics that causes unrest or riots in other civilized nations. As soon as I do, I will certainly react on it.

No, the Anti Emancipation Treaty is not a treat to anybody. All nations, including the Khmer and the Maya, are free to enter it. All nations have an equal vote.
The Pact does not include tech trades of any kind. You are misinformed.

I understand that you now strike at one member of the Anti Emancipation Treaty to 'punish' them for what all members together have done.
As Interim Secretary I will refrain from pushing all members to respond on this. Even more because I am very aware of the fact that I have two position in this, both as the Interim Secretary and as the King of Sparta.

I hope that you will change your attitude towards the Treaty.
Why do you not become a member so that you can influence the decisions of the Treaty. As a member you can even try to become the next Secretary General of the Treaty.

        Orestes
Interim Secretary of the Anti Emancipation Treaty

          • What is more dangerous that the world superpower, dominant on their own continent, trying to extend their grip to every continent?

A paranoid world superpower, dominant on their own continent, trying to extend their grip to every continent.

The only dark cloud encircling the globe is the evil of your pact - and hidden within this pact of which includes three of the top four powers there has been rampant tech sharing and military allegiances. We are not fools. You support each other in almost all international postings.
Perhaps you have been eating too many of the Mayan mushrooms?
            • The only military alliannce Rome has is public and transparent, the Pax Romana with its immeidate neighbours all of whom are mid-sided or small countries.
            • My last international posting was to express concern about Portuguese and Spartan declarations about overseas land. You even supported me on that.
            • Meanwhile you boast of knowing the location of all the oil, coal and uranium in the world, good of which Rome knows nothing but which I hear can be used to produce fearsome weapons. And now have machines in the air!

The AET is simply aimed at avoiding damage in our countries from other countries adopting emancipation. Emancipation is unique in having this impact on others; hence the AET. It is not about war and peace, threats or alliances.

The shadow which is spreading from the Khmer seems to be clouding your own mind. Even I Augustus of Rome, never defeated in war, fear for the future when the world superpower desire to bend all things to his will, and on top of it all is paranoid.

              • Greetings Suryavarman 3,

                Tidings Xristo.

Please not explore with Carrack inside Khmer waters. If you move to the easy access point Khmer will assume Portugal is landing spies or a Great Spy.

I'm sure you are not but we must protest at Portugal's massive espionage count against Khmer. Why is this so?

In addition why are you massing troops on Xristo City?

We wish to trust Portugal and all her fine deeds but Khmer must remain vigilant and ask these questions.

We do not transport any spies to Portugal but we do observe from the air - these are pretty much tourist flights for site-seers to take in the majesty of New Portugal.

                  Zondaz,

Korea will not be insulted again! We demand you hand over the territory of Alemanni that you have settled. It is rightly Korean, by treaty, with the great Pacal Voltan himself!

The agreement was signed by my father Sejong of Goguryeo and the founder of your Republic Pacal Voltan. You have ignored is politically in the past, but this can not go un-ignored. If you do not return the city we may be forced to do something we don't want to.

                  I'd advise you to comply.

Thankyou and great tidings dear Xristo!

For a moment their my Roman paranoia got the better of me, seeing all those troops on the border, but I feel much more relaxed now

Sincerely. And we appreciate our shipping agreements.

With the espionage, it is one thing to keep an eye on statistics and research (which is perfectly reasonable and acceptable to us) but quite another to overwhelm Khmer with espionage.

Even if Khmer keeps all its espionage on Portugal we have nearly enough to see these things but Portugal is getting on to being 1000points ahead of us. This is not what ancient Lhmer policy was ever about.

Can you post an image showing how much you need to maintain statistics and tech info? And Khmer will do the same.

                    in friendship Xristo,

Rome is sounding quite paranoid herself.

Khmer stands on her reputation to help and support others.

Khmer is not the super-power. Portugal is set to take that lead soon I'd say.

Khmer has worked not with any super powers.

But Rome, Portugal and Sparta have clearly helped each other in an effort to replace Khmer at the top of the 25% world rankings with Portugal.

Khmer has no nation to trade tecjnologies with currently yet those three super powers have each other. Fact.

So effectively the number 1, 3, & 4 powers are pitted against the soon to be number 2 power of the Khmer.

Khmer will any day prefer her friends of Meduian, save Portugal where relations are improving.

I have managed to reach Rome but only just in time! I fear young Marcus that the wearisome toils of high office will soon be upon your shoulders. Russia's greatest friend and ally - a giant amongst men - is clearly sickening fast. To have met him face to face just the once was an honour that I shall carry unto my own grave.

Though the fevers quicken and age rack his bones mighty Augustus was still able to impart much great wise and sage advice. I adore him for it and was able to assure him of Russia's ever true friendship towards't Rome. Marcus, please know that I am your brother in spirit if not in blood and that should the heavens take this peerless exempler of all that is good and great in the human soul from us I will stand with you as the pyre is lit and weep.

                        Rome's true and faithful friend,

Distant neighbour, you will note that the caravel of which you complain has now exited from Mayan waters and have my assurance that, unless invited, no Russian vessal shall pass through them again. I must once again plead ignorance of the physical world as I have spent my entire life in in a seminary with no thought that high office would be thrust upon me in matters temporal.

I and, when they learn of it, the Russian people are utterly outraged at the suggestion that espionage might be employed by us! To actually threaten war against Russia is an imflamatory statement that does nothing towards the bringing of a peaceful and just world to exist. To this end I have offered you the opportunity of re-opening borders. Your choice of offering a full franchise to all regardless of wealth or gender may not be to Russia's taste but that does not prevent us from allowing our citizens to move and trade as they would. Russia's Treaty obligations obviously preclude direct trade but nought beyond that.

                          • Giang Village, outside of Pyong'yang...

General Ji Huang's men sulked quietly outside of the house as one quietly looked into the window. A lone woman was there cooking some food, "I see her" he whispered, "General what do you want us to do?"

General Ji Huang thought for a moment, he did not want to do this; this wasn't the work of a General. Kidnapping a lone woman. But he knew what was on the line. The Korean Empire had been poorly handled by Emperor Gojong, and he knew that Wonsan could do a much better job controlling it. They could restore the luster Korea once had. In the old days Korean diplomats proudly searched the globe, from Oldonia to Maya, from Rome to Greece Korean presence was everywhere, "Do not harm her, if we do Kim may do something foolish, we can not make a mistake here."

Two of the soldiers nodded and carefully walked towards the front door, they lifted the cow-skin door and crept up behind her, grabbing her by her throat and quickly tying a gag around her mouth. The General looked around and entered the room. The other man began tying her up, her eyes wide with fear. "Do not cry out!" one of them said to her as she struggled for freedom, but it was of no use.

"I am General Ji Huang" the General said, "You will not be harmed, it is not you we are after." he said, "Get the horses" he told one of the soldiers as he quickly obliged, and began to make for the door. Just as he reached it an arrow flew into his chest and he fell over.

The General quickly pulled out his sword, "Damn it! They're on to us!" he said, as the other two soldiers readied for battle, throwing the young woman to the floor. Another arrow flew past Ji Huang's head, landing with a thud into a post in the center of the domicile.

"Who goes there!" a voice said from outside the house.

"General Kim?" Ji Huang asked, "Is that you?" There was no answer, Ji Huang nodded at his men, indicating one to look out of the window, as soon as he stuck his head up another arrow found its mark; right in his eye, he screamed as he fell to the floor, a baby began to cry.

"What do we do sir?" the last remaining soldier said, he was frightened, and scared to see who was attacking them.

                            Meanwhile, Outside...

Captain Park Long attempted to look into the building but did not want to give up his position, "What the hell is going on in there?" he was worried Kim may have arrived home early, if this was the case the Emperor's plan to kill his wife would fail, and his plans to marry his daughter to Kim would go down with them.

"What do we do Captain?" a nervous soldier asked, none of them wanted to do this; kill a lone woman.

"Sh*t" he said "Who is in there? Didn't somebody call out for General Kim?" he asked.

"Yes sir!" one of his men said, "But is he there?"

Just then a soldier left the building in flames, he was wearing the uniform of Wonsan, "What the hell?" Captain Park Long said as a soldier looked up, an arrow then hit that soldier through his neck, blood gushing out like a fountain.

"Holy sh*t!" the other soldier said.

"I have her!" a voice said in the distance, it was general Ji Huang holding a sword at Kim's wife's throat, she was bound and gagged, "Show yourself or she dies!"

Captain Park looked at the last soldier he had, "You're going to have to look, who is it?"

The soldier quickly popped his head up and just as quickly dropped to the ground, "Its a General, I don't recognize him, he has her at swordpoint, what do we do?"

"Does he have a crossbow?" Park Long asked, the soldier said nothing "Does he have a f*cking crossbow?" he began to load up his own crossbow.

"I don't think so, he is by himself, he has a sword to her throat." the soldier said, Park Long handed him his crossbow.

                            "Take the shot." he said.

"I can't hit him from here, he is behind the woman."

"Not him you idiot, kill her, then we'll kill him!" Park Long said.

"SHOW YOURSELF KIM!" General Ji Huang said, he was sure it was Kim he was dealing with.

The soldier rose up slowly, taking aim with the crossbow.

Ji Huang laughed "Is that you Kim? You think you can hit me? Do you have the accuracy?"

The soldier shot the arrow directly into the woman's stomach, Ji Huang dropped her to the ground and slowly began to back towards the house. Park Long rose up, "Oh, General Ji Huang, so nice to see you!"

The General looked around, his men were dead and all he had was a sword, "Captain Park Long," he said, hesitantly looking around, he realized there were only two men before him, "What brings you here?"

"Silence!" Captain Park Long said, as he came from behind the hay-cart, "You are by yourself, if you wish to preserve your life you will come with me. Traitor!" he said, Ji Huang was part of Bojong's camp, "Your man is an enemy of the Empire, you would be wise to turn yourself over to the Emperor."

"What are you doing here Park Long?" the General asked.

"That is none of your concern, our work here is done!" Park Long said, just then General Ji Huang realized why they had come. They came to kill Kim's wife, to free him from his marriage, so he could be married to the Emperor's daughter Sinjeong.

"You damned fool" Ji Huang said, "Gojong will never get what he wants, Bojong has Sinjeong, she will be married to Gae Ponjang, and all of your efforts will be for naught."

"Be that as it may, I have my orders, and if you want to live you will come with me!" Park Long said, as he slowly approached the General.

"I will do nothing of the sort!" he said, as he turned his sword against himself and plunged it into his stomach, dropping to the floor.

From: Pacal Zandoz of the Maya
                              Subject: International Affairs

I will start this global missive by introducing myself. I am Pacal Zandoz, newly appointed by the Taoist Church as the acting Pacal of the Maya.

I am a public servant first, and an ambassador second. A voice of the Mayan people if you will.

As of late, several nations have threatened the Maya, or conducted diplomacy against us, or both. This has not been well received by the Mayan people, especially in light of our friendly history and positive past relations with many of these nations.

Russia: Do not take us for fools. The only reason your ship would proceed to our coast AFTER being warned to stay back would be to drop off a spy, or to observe our territory from the sea. I find it despicable that after Maya sacrificed its soldiers in your nations defense, during its time of need, you now sign embargoes against us, and perhaps even spy on us. What a way to say "Thank you". Despicable.

Rome: Maya understands membership obligations to the Pax Romana. Our threat of war against Russia is conditional however, and we feel reasonably so. They have no business on our coast if we don't want them there, and certainly have no business infiltrating us with spys if they have done so. Do you agree? As leader of the Pax Romana, what is your position if a member knowingly instigates a war?

Sparta: It is Mayan policy to keep tabs on nations who regularly threaten us with war. Rumors that we are dedicating our entire GNP on Greek espionage are exaggerations I assure you. If us watching you makes you nervous, then stop threatening us with war. Simple. We have no plans to send actual spys to Sparta, but our information gathering will continue until Sparta adjusts it's tone with Maya.

Korea: You speak of insults? Because we took back the gift that you have not taken advantage of for hundreds of years and allowed barbarians to thrive in? Because we also gifted you a new world city? Because we have shared much of our technology with you? Or because you signed the AET? I cannot decide if you are arrogant or confused. Make no mistake insignificant and ungrateful Korea, that land we just settled between us is ours now, and we will defend it if needed. The days of Mayan handouts to Korea are OVER.

The Mayan Trade Advisers have indicated that due to lopsided trade agreements of the past with many AET nations, it would actually be to our BENEFIT to close boarders with said nations and cease trade immediately as opposed to waiting for the sanctions to kick in. Of course if any nation decides to revoke its membership in the AET we will consider opening boarders and conducting resource trading again.

Nations of Medulla, we will need to replace a few lost resources, and have a surplus of our own since the AET members do not want them. Feel free to contact us for new trades. We are feeling generous.

                              • Pacal Zandoz,

You are free to build up as many intelligence against Sparta as you wish.
I just have warned you: As soon as we discover any kind of espionage activities on our territory, we will certainly declare war on you.

Zandoz, don't be mistaken. I know what your plans are.
I warn you, don't be a fool again. Strike at Sparta, and we will strike back at you with a power you can't imagine from, an angle you expected.

I urge you to turn away from your wrong paths and return to the past of the Korean/Mayan/Spartan peace of before. There is a saying: Better a good neighbour then a far away friend.

I have warned you and your predecessors enough.
I will have no mercy on you or you empire when you try to strike at us or at Korea.
Look at what happened to the Piercians. Once they were an important empire as well. But they wanted more. Do you want to become like them?

If you want to, continue your pathetic plans.
They are laughable and I have understood all of them.

                                King Orestes of Sparta
