        ooc there is another problem.

one strategy in a game is to get nukes first and then annhilate others, which is fine in simul play but with turn based Pitboss I'm a bit uncertain.

A nation could make a massive first strike before the other party logs in.

        thoughts?

We have a defence pact, which will be effectuated manually.

With all those in-game mechanics we have an everybody vs everybody war as soon as 1 nation attacks another nation.
I will not be pulled into a war with 10 nations because of silly defence pacts.
I would suggest that nobody uses defence pacts.
They only cause chain reactions that nobody can control.

So: believe me, Sparta and Portugal do have a defence pacts, it's just not being ruled by silly game mechanics.[/OOC]
          ooc You are wrong.

I agree that there should not be multitudinous defence pacts between nations, as I've said before, but if it's in the story it should be in the game mechanic! Otherwise you could get Rome/Portugal/Spain/Sparta all in a defence pact but it's not in the game mechanics which is part of the rules of the game, right?

I seem to remember someone in another game highlighting the stupidity of this - NOT the game mechanic but the fact that a nations history leads to a massive number of defence pacts. At least in that case it was honest.

I will try to bring back peace to Korea and Sparta as soon as possible.
We should not let this escalate into a world war.

This world is very close to be turned into a world war by the malicious Khmer.
I know there are more smaller nations that are about to wage war against bigger nations. You have all individually been used as pawns by the Khmer, like Korea.

            You will not succeed!
Rome, Portugal and Sparta may suffer some losses in the beginning, but after time goes by, our armies will grow bigger and destroy you.
This will hold back the economy of Sparta, Rome and Portugal, and destroy your civilizations.
Proof positive of a huge alliance of the number 1, 3 & 4 civs

But worst of all: The khmer will laugh from a distance, being untouched by war they can grow larger and build up their economy.

Don't let yourself be used as a pawn!
            Stop this madness.

But let me be clear, I will not let his Sparta-Korean thing turn into a world war.
Next period Sparta will have machine gunners. Korea has no chance, it doesn't even have riflemen, and the riflemen Korea has were borrowed from Sparta and should be returned.

Sparta has many Frigates and ironclads protecting it's shores.
We can destroy Korea in no time, but we will not.
We will accept peace with Korea, only if Korea promises to publish all secret communication it had with all nations on Earth, and especially the Khmer.

            King Orestes of Sparta
This is desperate rhetoric by a panic stricken leader.

The Khmer will not laugh NOR has Khmer orchestrated any wars. If there are truly Portuguese spies in Khmer land Xristo can report our peacable building program of buildings and the like.

Khmer has NOT instigated any action. All nations are sovereign in the eyes of Khmer and any actions by other nations is NOT the work of Khmer.

We are totally surprised by this decalaration of war, particularly after our helping hand in their technology research, and urge Korea to stand down or 're-load' it's weapons

And let's face it Khmer has struggled for technological equality AGAINST the big sharing alliance of Sparta/Rome/Portugal.

If smaller nations are softer on Khmer it's maybe because we tried to help and did it ALONE as far as technology is concerned.

You know Sparta, just because you have enemies doesn't mean it's because of us. It's about time you realised that it's because of YOU!

              Tidings Prince Andrei.

Thankyou for your balanced approach. We will err on the side of our good relations and not impose any further trade restrictions on Mother Russia for the time being, despite your signatory status of the AET.

You words are warm as are Japans.

I have received your concerns about our military build up on New Portugal, because I still believe that relations between us could be mutually beneficial and friendly I will pull pack 80% of the armies close to Xristo City, will that reassure you and calm the people of Xristo city?

                Xristo
I really do not know where Khmer stands with Portugal, Xristo. I'm certain that from time to time your words are much harsher on Khmer than ours are on Portugal. And any diplomatic criticism we make of Portugal is founded on the best Khmer intelligence and judgement.

We trust that you Great Spy has indeed now left Khmer lands if it was ever there but we can not ignore the international 'game' event announcement regarding espionage against the Khmer.

And regarding your troop withdrawal, Khmer can only see the timing of this as a means for Portugal to aid Sparta in their plight against Korea. Are you moving your troops to the West?

If true, please heed Sparta's request to stay out of this war. All the same an honest defensive pact would have been a more transparent statement to the world and may have assisted Korea in making better decisions.

tidings and Khmer will consider your olive branch.

                • Members of the Anti Emancipation Treaty,

                  Good news!
I have been able to keep Japan into the Anti Emancipation Treaty.
Together with the Maya deal we have proved to be a well organized and valid treaty. Strong and solid.

                  Regarding the Khmer embarge,
We now have 2 votes against and 2 votes in favour of this proposal.
I therefore withdraw this proposal. We should avoid at any chance to accept proposals that split our treaty in two halves.

Therefore there are no running votes or embargoes running anymore.
Thanks to all for your cooperation.

Orestes, Secretary General of the Anti Emancipation Treaty

                  • Suryavarman,

                    1. There is no alliance between Sparta and Rome. Rome and Sparta have very good relations, I hope you do not have problems with that. But lately had almost signed a defence pact with the Maya that could've easily brought us to war between Rome and Sparta. I know that I am paranoid, but your paranoia is beyond all imagination.

                    2. Sparta only has a defence pact with Portugal. We always have been clear about that. It is not a secret. I will not hand myself over to something like 'game mechanics'. I never have stated otherwise. My request to Portugal to stay out of the Spartan-Korean war is an honest request. Once again your paranoi is beyond any form of imagination. Sparta is a nation of honour. We have never lied to anybody, nor did we ever break our word. It is against everything Sparta stands for if we would do otherwise.

                    King Orestes

                    • General Kim of Korea,

I once again request you to return the army and the Frigate I have borrowed to Korea.
It is against all forms of honour and dignity to keep these armies, especially since they helped you to overthrow your emperor and bring you into power.

I aso offer you once again peace.
Sparta has no desires to crumble the Korean empire.
Let's try to find a solution for this situation.

                        • I've closed this thread. We need a new thread anyway. (Please nobody else create it, I must make a first post with all the links etc.)

Let's stop story telling till this has been solved (see org thread).
There are saves, we can always reload. In the meanwhile just continue to play since I believe that that's what'll hapen anyway because I don't believe there's been cheatery, only a mistake by the Koreans, but that's what we have to figure out in the org thread.
