  • Member nations of the Anti Emancipation Treaty,

Japan has requested us to terminate his membership of the AET.
According to Article 12 of the treaty membership ends 10 periods after the request for termination. Effectively that mean that Japan is a member of the AET for 9 more periods.

During these periods Japan has all rights and duties that belong to a member of the AET. Please Japan continue to live up to these terms you have signed.

    Orestes
Secretary General of the Anti Emancipation Treaty

    Comment

    • To the members of the Anti Emancipation Treaty,

Behind closed doors I have tried to establish a deal with the Maya to end the troubles between the AET members and the Maya.
The purpose of these meetings with the Maya was to get a stronger AET.

Now we have worked out a deal that I wish to propose to you.
For obvious reasons this deal can only become official if the majority of the AET members votes in favour of this deal.

The terms of this deal are:
      - The Maya will join the AET in 40 periods
      - The Maya will denounce Emancipation in 40 periods
      - During these 40 periods the AET will lift all sanctions from the Maya
      - The Maya will be the only nation to ever get this favour.

As the Secretary General of the AET I believe that this deal will make the AET stronger.
It'll bring the biggest (and only) opponent of the AET into the AET, showing the world that the AET will prevail and it's opponents will in the end be incorporated.

To get this done we must give the Maya in return some time to organize their economy and make themselves ready to denounce Emancipation and join the AET. I believe that 40 periods is a fair term.

At the same time I insist that we declare that only the Maya get this deal.
This to make sure that other nations don't get the idea that the AET sanctions can be avoided by only accepting Emancipation for 40 periods.

The Maya can get this favour because they were the first nation that had to deal with the AET. We have shown the world that we are serious about our sanctions. Now the Maya have felt the true economic drop down of challenging the AET thy learned to not withstand the AET. Other nations have the example of the Maya. They do not need a 40 periods extra time frame to learn this.

I hope that we can agree together that this deal with the Maya makes the AET only stronger.

I also ask the Japanese to re-enter the AET.
Since no nation is currently opposing the AET anymore after this deal has been signed, Japan can trade freely with all nations of the world. There is no need for Japan any more to leave the AET for that reason.

I hope that Japan reconsiders it's leave of the AET for that reason.

      Orestes
Secretary General of the Anti Emancipation Treaty

          • TO: Member States of the AET
            FROM: Emperor Gojong of Silla

            Friends of Korea,

We would also like the opportunity to support Mayan entrance into the AET, however at this time we are unable to do so until the proposal is amended to include the Korean proposal which has been sent to both the Mayans and Greeks.

Korea will, in due time (since "Korea" is busy tonight and won't be home until later), provide all member states with a copy of the proposal (unless both the Greeks and Mayans publicly object to this, but they don't have much time to do so) so they may look it over. We believe it is fair, and just, and is the only way to ensure Korean safety and sovreignty between two powerful states like Greece and the Maya. The purpose of this treaty was to allow national governments to excersize their authority safely, so we feel that an amendment to the Greek proposal regarding the Mayans is important, especially considering this was only done AFTER the Mayans stole Korean lands, lands they had offered by treaty to Korea, and under a treaty that Korea fully lived up to. We will be more specific in the proposal but we kindly ask that all nations who have backed this proposal rescind their vote until they see what Korea has to say about the matter.

            Thank you for your time,

            - Gojong of Silla, Emperor of Korea

            • This is a general announcement to all the nations iof the world. I have been receiving plenty of offers, which is very flattering for this Queen, but unfortunately I just do not have any techs available for trade since I have a deal with a nation for my remaining trades. I am flattered that so many nations see my empire and a gentle and wonderful place to be, so if you want to still do business with us, we are more than willing to do so, but we just cannot trade techs any, which is a shame.

              Comment

              • Emperor Gojong of Korea,

I hereby declare that I end all communications with you and your empire.
All offers I have done to you are withdrawn. The peace deal I suggested between the three of us (Maya, Korea and Sparta) is void.
Please return my soldiers as soon as possible.

I have done everything in my might to help you.
I have even offered to settle 4 cities for you on New Sparta and promised to help you settle 4 more cities on New Sparta!
I have given a huge army to you.
I have upgraded your units for you.
I have made taken huge risks by trying to create a defence pact on our peninsula.
I have offered you oil and resources, all techs you needed.

And then I Receive you response: "Please turn over the Gobi desert to me as well"
and only a couple of hours later: "You keep me in the dark, why do you withdraw your troops?"

I have not kept you in the dark.
I withdraw my troops because it seems like there is no need for war any more against the Maya. We were so close to a peace and alliance treaty.
But apparently you have continued to set your war up. Hiding under my peace talks, you continued to do war.
You used me as a puppet to cover your war plans.

The treaty was good for Korea. You would get your city from the Mayans and a lot of land on New Sparta.
                But apparently you prefer war.

You can have your war. But leave me out of it.
I pull all my support to Korea back.
You can wage war against any nation you want, Sparta is not going to help you anymore.
You are talking all the time of 'not being a pawn' but you do not treat your own friends as equals either.

I gave you a castle in Sparta, tried everything to help you.
I have warned you for internal troubles.
                But you only want more.

                I am done with you.
All deals I have suggested and made are void.
Good luck with the Mayans. Wage your war. But send my troops home first.

Apparently the Koreans don't know what diplomacy is.
                They even alienate their friends.

                • Pacal Zandoz,

                  Unfortunately our deal can't continue.
Thank our mutual neighbour for that.
I am still willing to discuss peace with you, but a defence pact for our peninsula is off the table.
Sparta will defend itself, and will aid the Portuguese if they will be attacked.

You are not to blame for this, great Pacal.
I will contact you soon for a peace treaty between the both of us.
You can have your way with the Koreans.

                  • These events take place back in time.
[ooc because of intense diplomatic negotiations and lack of time I had no time to post these stories earlier. I'll post more tomorrow]

The Gobi desert, east of Korea, was unsettled for thousands of years.
                    Inhabited by barbarians.
Nobody had any interest in the desert, which was not a surprise. The deserts were encircled by mountains, only reachable over water. Factually an island.
There was nothing. Hardly any food resources.

The Koreans had not settled even the land at the opposite side of the mountains, close to their own borders.
Word had reached Sparta that Korea was more interested in islands in the ocean and continents like New Sparta and New Korea.

Then Orestes sent scouts to explore the Gobi desert.
What was this mysterious desert about? Unwanted by all, ignored by Korea.

A galleon sailed to the desert.
A unit of knights left the ship to explore the desert island.
As soon as it putted food on the ground, barbarians approached the knights from all sides. Multiple units of axemen and swordsmen encircled the scouting troops.

The captain of the scouting party drawed his sword.
"Make ready to defend yourself" he screamed
"There is no hope! They are with too many!" one of the soldiers returned.
                    There was fear everywhere.

Then suddenly the sun appeared from behind the clouds.
Above the mountain range a rainbow appeared in the sky.

"HOPE!" the captain said with great voice.
                    "Hope!" his men repeated him.

"Hope" "Hope" "hope" they chanted, while the axemen started to run into them.

As some may or may not know Emperor Nobunaga Oda has canceled the A.E.T treaty. This was his final decision before relinquishing his throne to his young grandson Yoshiro and the new Imperial ministers he left to serve the young emperor. After much debate his Imperial Majesty has decided that Japan will go through with the draw. Japan will still honor the treaty for the next 8 periods but after that Japan will no longer be obligated by the AET treaty.

                        Foreign Minister Shino

On a side not His Imperial Majesty would be willing to re-enter the AET ONLY if Sparta renounces the Spartan Mayan defense pact and does not allow them to enter the AET. Only after this will Japan consider rejoining the AET.

                          • Then the battle started.

Spartan Knights were killed but every knight that died had killed at least 40 barbarians before he left this world.
The knights were brave, fighting for Sparta. But there were many many barbarians.
The entire island was filled with these barbarians. They had no homes, no cities, just wandering through the desert killing everyone who dared to set a fool in the desert.

                            But then there was victory!
The barbarians who weren't killed yet fled away.
It would take a few more years to clean the Gobi Desert from all barbarians.

                            "Victory" the captain yelled!
"Victory! The Gobi Desert is Spartan now!" the army said.
Then they mourned the dead. It was impossible to bury the dead under the sand. The were burned while all living knights stood in circle around them. "Peace be with you, brave warriors for Sparta" the captain said.

Then a 2nd ship arrived, bringing the first settlers.
                            Men, women and children.
The rainbow was above the ship.

"New hope for the Gobi Desert!" the captain said.

Soon cities were founded, infrastructure created.
It was only the blood of the knights and the hard work of the settlers that soon made the Gobi desert a habitable place.

"Never will Sparta give up the Gobi! We have worked hard for it" the captain said.

Sparta has ended all negotiations regarding the Spartan-Mayan-Korean defence pact.
I am certainly not happy that the negotiations failed because of Korean's ever growing desire for more. But it leave the door open for Japan to re-enter the Anti Emancipation Treaty though.

                              • Spartan King,

His Imperial Majesty wishes to know how Japan and why Japan should reenter a treaty which clearly does not help the curent members of the treaty. Korea has been affected by the Mayan way of government more then any one yet instead of helping the Koreans who have been your friends forever you by helping them rid themselves of the Mayans you turn your back on them, tell them to give back the forces you gave them, give away there land on new sparta, which by all rights should return to Japan especially since you violated our agreement to seetle New Sparta. So now how can we be sure you will not turn on us??? If you want Japan to join the AET again show us that you will not turn on us, show use you can keep your word.
