  • If Ozzy goes off and awesomely makes an awesome map that seeds resources as per my suggestion in the other thread, I would be wholeheartedly behind using that one, so long as no one but Ozzy sees it prior to the game launching the first time.

    • I agree.

I have no problem with a pre-made map that is new to the players.

What I was against was using a well known earth type map.

      • Those mods look interesting, but won't that possibly screw with the game a little?

I don't really know much about modding, so please fill me in on it.

        • All I am asking is this. Put these mods to the vote &-if any get in-I will be more than happy to port them into BtS to create one 'Diplogame mod'-if you will. Then we just distribute the mod to all the players & make sure every game hosted is the Mod. Quite simple really (except the porting bit-that can be quite time-consuming, which is why we had better vote quickly ).

          • I’m slightly opposed to having these mods, but I wouldn’t mind the following:

            The inquisition mod is interesting
            Influence driven war

No to the all the others. If we are doing a random map I’d give decaying maps a too.

              • I've noticed sometimes my BTS games just freeze up. This doesn't happen often, but it happens. So I may need to work this kink out before we can start playing the game so I dont' ruin a session.

Also we should decide when exactly we want this thing to begin.

                • I think we should start have a few connection try outs. I'm free in the planned slot to do this any time soon - like this weekend!

Just get as many as we can.

                  • I think we should get this thing rolling in two weeks or so.

                    • I agree with Heraclitus, so just to quanitfy the things we need to make official;

                      1) Anonymous play or not? (I don't see the point, and believe even if we try anonymous play it won't last so I say no.)

                      2) Random or premade map? (I would prefer a random map to a premade map, but am willing to accept a premade ficticious map)

*As Lz stated before, I think it was Lz, my game also lags pretty bad on Huge and Large maps, not so much Large but it still has lag, this may be a problem for us later in teh game*

                      3) Time Slot - So are we agreed on US Saturday Night/Sunday Morning @ 12am, or are we going to use a different time slot?

                      4) How many players are we going to have? I think we had a list of around 8 to 10 guys, which I think is a good start.

So those are the things we need to iron out before we begin the game. I also agree with deity that we need to test connections prior to the game just so we don't have to worry about it as we begin. If we are going to use some mods we certainly need to do this.

As far as the victory goes; we could use Ozzy's point system but I personally dont' care who wins that much, or really care about winning myself, although it would be nice. So before we start that is another issue we should mette out. From what I gather here it seems we still have a few issues to iron out.

                      • My computer will probably have difficulty on a late game huge map. Large is the biggest I can go.

I vote nay for anonymous play, but it won't stop me from playing.

I have already stated my map preferences.

Time slot: Sunday early morning CET is ok, lots of other times are good too.

Victory: Don't care that much point system could be used. Or perhaps the secret objectives thingy OzzyKP suggested somewhere.

I have plenty of time for a Connection try out this weekend, just contact me as to exactly when.

BTW There seems to be very little word from some of the people who have signed up. Perhaps someone should PM them with the questions we need to iron out?

Question: How many players do you usually have? I'm thinking 12 should be a good number, we may even have that many already.

                        • Capo, maybe you should listen a bit more to the other guys who've played many diplo civ4 games during your absence. They have experience and thought about the mechanics all the time. It's not as if concept like "anonymous playing" popped up out of nothing.

I'd don't say that you shouldn't be involved in the discussion, but it bugs me a bit that you sound like we the world stopped spinning around during your absence. I'm sorry if I'm wrong.

                            • Cybershy;

I'm sorry you are viewing my post as arrogant, because that is not at all what it is. Am I NOT allowed to suggest a challenge to something simply because I have been gone for a year?

I don't think that's very fair, and by the way, I am going to play in this game so the fact that I have been absent should and in my mind DOES have nothing to do with how this game will be played.

That being said, I would also like to point out that your post (which I consider a personal slight - something that is definitely not going to help the discussion) does nothing to answer my concerns with trying to play an "anonymous" game. I mean, playing anonymously will remove many aspects from the diplomacy of the game, and I know your point is that it will improve the diplomacy, however I still disagree.

How am I to contact the other nation between sessions? And not through e-mail either, through some sort of instant messager. I mean, I don't think it will work the way we want it to work, and ultimately our true identities will be revealed.

And again, your pointless response to my post has yet again wasted even more time. You could have easily responded to the points I made in an attempt to further this game and to organize our efforts. Instead of this, you decided to chide me simply because I haven't played a diplogame in a year.

I dont' see what that has to do at all with disagreeing with the idea of anonymous play. If you can give me a good reason why the fact that I was absent means I am wrong then I'll shut up.

In the past we've played with around 10 players, as far as I can tell.

Although I have been gone for a while, so maybe you shouldn't listen to me at all.
