And another thing, I just got BTS loaded into my computer and I think it has crashed twice, so maybe there is a patch out there I can get or something, or maybe I can uninstall it and reinstall it, because it seems like the game itself isn't working properly so maybe I loaded it wrong, or there was some other type of mistake made while it was loading I don't know.

But I figure by the time we actually start this game I'll have it up and running.

I think the idea has merit, since if you guys can easily recognize someone; shouldn’t you be able to also deceive the other players with the same knowledge? It could help immersion, but it could on the other hand encourage impersonation of other players and not necessarily the immersion in your particular character. Has this been tried before or is it a new thing you guys would like to try?

The thing is I’m guessing that I’ll be very easy to recognize me since I’ll probably be the one who asking the stupid question or two. I suppose it won’t bring advantages to any of the other player’s since they don’t know what to expect of me anyway. I think it would probably not make sense for me to have a DL for this game, but I can conform if the majority thinks that this is not the case.

Overall I think I’d prefer that players in the game not be anonymous.


I am flexible though since I just happy I finally got to sign myself up for a diplo game.

I tend to agree. If this was a standard game it would work, but I think it will be too easy to determine idenity based on writing style, of which there will be alot to make comparisons.

One thing that would be cool however would be to have eveyone guess who was actually who after the game. Maybe attach points to this somehow to foster people hiding their true idenity.

Geeez, we've been busy introducing new players all the time. I've spent hours and hours to help them, inform them, contact them, keep them interested in the game, wait for them when their connection failed, couldn't figurer things out, when they didn't show up, etc. etc.

I was half joking. You have to realize however that when new people (myself included) read your message it sends a certain message, inteded or not. Sorry if my comment offended.

I think it equates to the size of the large Earth map in the game (not huge)

Yes?

We discussed this a while back and most players were excited by the anonymous approach - it's an option in the game settings.

We would all create our own Lobby logins as our handles for logging in to the Staging Room and playing (eg my Gamespy login for playing HOTW12 only might be "Pericles XX")

Cyber can set up special Apolyton logins for the story thread and the idea is that we use different writing styles to obscure our identity. So I might be Pericles in the game so my story login might be "DiploGame player 3 (Pericles)" or whatever Cyber comes up with. With Capo on the scene it's going to be harder to hide his identity because of his lengthy and distinctive story style I agree but I still think it;'s worth going anonymous.

I'm with Deity on the game maps - 1st Ozzy's Big Earth map 2nd Huge Earth map 3rd Terra and 4th small and big I will be happy with all 4 choices.

Aslo it would be nice if we customize it - meaning all islands or conts be connected via shallow water. So we can have contact to each other.

In either of the Earth maps will it start people in the New World? Or at least on islands near the old world? Maybe. I don't know.

I can make 12-3 on Saturdays, but I work at 9am sunday, so if that could scoot backwards a little ways that would be great. . .

I can do it, but I'd prefer to not have to, hehehe.
