Absolutely love RTW, and have been playing mostly Europe. I do seem to have issues with the AI, specifically the US and the UK. Neither seem to build any land units, and I havent seen them attempt to invade germany at all. It's frustrating as the US or Russia to not have Germany distracted by the other front(I haven't tried UK yet). I have been playing on Noble, so is that the issue?
I'm going to try some stuff to see how it goes.

Has anyone else experienced a problem installing the recent add on? I did not get an overwrite message, and I don't appear to have the fixes. I posted the path I am using a few posts ago, but it seems right to me. Shoudl I be deleting anything before the install?

Check that your game installation is actually to that path. It might be to C:\Program Files\Sid Meiers Civilization 4\ or to D:\ maybe.

Also, if you have Vista you'll have to browse for the correct path.

This is the first time I have played using random starts for historic events. As soon as I finish this game I will start another one and see what happens.

          An observation.

The upgrade from anti-tank to tank destroyer is out of balance with most other upgrades. It costs 500 gold. (strength 10 to 15)

Most other upgrades cost around 20 gold. (i.e. infantry to improved infantry - again strength 10 to 15).

I'll check the path by browsing manually. I have XP, and I know I checked the path, but it could have been after I tried the first install and it didn't work.

If my path was "C:\Program Files\Sid Meiers Civilization 4\" rather than what I used I would think Windows would tell me that it couldn't find the specified path rather than create the applicable folders, but I guess it might do that. Thanks for the help, I'll try it when I get home.

Also, glad to see that your going to tweak the AI in regards to my post from earlier(if that was what you meant).

In my current game I am playing Russia, and I have Germany on the ropes. 99% of the Axis attention is focused on me, and UK just leaves a massive stack of battleships/cruisers off the coast of France/Lowcountries(German Occupied). he doesn't even bombard with them. Germany will bomb them every turn, but I think that's about all the support I am getting from the US or UK.

While this is a fun challenge(I am fighting him inch by inch into Germany and my front cuurently extends from Krakow in the south to Danzig in the North), it would still be nice to get some help from the allies over there. I think it's late '42 or so.

Good, with a stack of AA I could even destroy ships . The Panzer IV is still the ruler, the problem is not the combatvalue its the movement rate. Every tank generation should have a range of 3, range 4 is a stack killer because of blitzkrieg but 2 makes the promotion useless.

World maps don't work at this stage. They'll be working in a later release.

I did. Downloaded the no movies version & installed but it didn't overwrite anything. I checked the folders & it looks like it installed a new folder "rtw addon pack 1" rather than overwrite the main files. I moved everything out manually & they overwrote then, seems to work haven't had a chance to do more than check that all the scenarios/new countries are there & that Canada has Oil .

Yes, this is what it did for me, created a new folder. I'll have to try manually over-writing, like you did. Thanks!

                          Pacific map. Beta 2.

If you are attacking a city that has one defending land unit left and some aircraft, there is a bug if you kill that defender by bombardment. The land unit dies leaving the city empty except for the planes. If you then try and move a land unit into that city - you can not capture it even though it has no defenders inside the city, because of the prescence of the aircraft..

                            Dale

No matter what I try, I can't install your add-on from here. I have even gone back and uninstalled BTS
and reinstalled it and the 3.02 patch and then your
add-on by various methods. I run a Gateway AMD 64
x2 with plenty of memory and have no trouble with
BTS istself. Any suggestions? I did update the Direct
X as suggested by Firaxis as well. What about the new
                            3.03 patch?

                              Also,
When the gentleman above refers to "taking
all the files out and then it overwrites," is there a
way to do that without doing it file by file and if there
is not, just how would I do what he did sucessfully?

                              Thank you

In the explorer you select the files and folders with shift-click and use cut. then paste it to the road to war folder and select "yes to all". Or you use the installer and select the road to war folder manually even it is the right path already, after that scroll the install path to the end, you will see that the installer want to create a subfolder in road to war called "Addon1 beta2" or something like that, delete this and start the installation.

Hint to Dale, maybe you should use a xml compiler like ghostinstaller. Not comfortable like the wizard ones but with more features, you can add registry entries and also use the firaxis ones to find the right path to the game.
