How about making it run for those of us with classic machines...like Pentium 4's. As it is, my laptop can barely keep up with the game now. The way things are progressing, there's no way I'll have a PC powerful enough to run the next civ.

    My wishlist:
    1. More AI
    2. Less graphics
    3. Oh and bring back Civ2 terraforming, or even better SMAC terraforming. AND CANALS!!!!! I could build a canal right now with a shovel, why can't my game?
.......shhhhhh......I'm lurking.......proud to have been stuck at settler for six years.......

Please forgive me if this is already in the game. I keep getting the freeze thing like a lot of gamers and really can't play the game right now due to it.
      Rally points are in AFAIK.

I second that. The civilopedia is woefully substandard. It needs to be more user-friendly, with search fields, text-based not picture-based, and have hard statitistics up front, not wooly comparative terms.

By the looks of it, most of this stuff can be modded into Civ 4; its just I don't want to be the one who does it!

                what i want to see

                let's see

-get rid of squares, units should be able to travel within a radius (affected and permitted by geography, of course). this of course needs a 3d globe

-get rid of cities, replace with regions (region sizes grow over time, and not all are the same identical shape - more population/production/research/trade)

-production hammers/shields shared between neighboring regions (region A, B, C builds the parts, region D assembles them - eg: give me 4 tanks in one city, instead of 1 tank in each city) - each region should set percentage of hammers that work towards military, commerce, health and the user figures out how to spend them each turn)

-change science so that known/observed technologies are much easier to learn, science research should be global/shared between all players (more if allied to a player/less if at war)

-introduce 'defining eras' - when something major and impactful to the world happens, time 'slows down' (in ancient era, 1 turn is 20 years is replaced by 20 turns which are 1 year each)

-add 'religious victory' when your religion is 75% of the world... making spreading religion a *lot* more difficult

                -add non-pitiful AI!

-more political features... eg: aggressive borders (no units), neutral borders (workers, missionaries, spies), open borders (all units)

that's about all i have to say

make a civ game that is life size

one mile = one mile (thank you Steven Wright, comedian)
                    one minute = one minute
no gold....deal in real currency in exact amounts.
                    Do budgets in real values.
Military units can be seperated all the way down to individual soldiers
Treaties more sophisticated where you can negotiate ANYTHING. Don't ever enter square x. Share 34% of fish yield at square y. Declare war on country z under the following terms...

                    but PLEASE eliminate all micromanagement.

                      re Shogun Gunner,

                      or go one farther:

Convince all civvers that LIFE is actually civ 5, can be downloaded free-of-charge, is available in all languages and all geographical locations at the same time, is constantly being patched, updated and improved (though some users prefer to stick with the stable release) and - biggest change of all - allows no saving or reloading to get a better result!
                      regards,

                      Peter

I completely disagree, It should not be global, look at the western hemisphere in the 1500's, the aztec didnt have the slightest of knowledge of guns or cannons, but europe sure did! compare africa at the time to europe, compare japan to europe.

                          good thoughts...

i was keeping it short, but obviously being out of contact with someone should barrier this...

as for japan, that's a good point. perhaps this could be addressed by introducing isolationist policies and even tying automatic technology share to aggressive / neutral / open borders

europe pretty much introduced 'western' trade and what-not to africa in the 1500s, i think this is a good example of sharing technology & trade. but it does raise some other existing game issues... trade filtered through only north africa and large & dry deserts prevented trade elsewhere before this time

I think civ4 is as good as we are going to get.

                            Civ 5

                            SMAC 2

That makes a little better sense. So maybe I don't completely dissaggree.

Lke i have stated in one of my posts before, there are a lot of elements that would be/are too hard to impliment into a game with our current levels of technology.

The first add-on to cIV is coming out soon. This might be a good time to see what is still missing and update the ciV wish list.
