Terrorism equals modern barbs. I think Barbs should be spawned through out all of history. Maybe civil unrest will lead to a nearby barb out break that will focus their energies on civs friendly to you.

What if later in the game barbs could enter into negotiations with civs and you could make peace or gift them gold to attack enemies? Gift them a nuke and see what happens.

I didn't realize at the time that I was replying to a 2 year old post. Please disregard what I posted.

And btw, with two enormous Lists already made, I think we shouldn't make a complete new one, but rather use the old ones and build upon them(after removing what is already in place, Firaxis has done a great job listening to us!).
Kind of pointless bringing up 2 year old chatter though. With some editing sure, but who wants to go through several pages of two year old posts to find some of the points being made at a time when no one even knew how the game would evolve. Maybe someone could go through the effort of actually listing some of the ideas mentioned that still are relevant after two expansions.

        • Lots ideas is already in. There we can propose changes.

Lots ideas are not in. Some can still be relevant, but there should be a discussion. But I know from my time with the List for Civ4, that most of the ideas were very similar, some identic, to the old ideas from the List.

And yes, this will take time. It always does. I can assure you I had much work with my part of the List for Civ4, and I was only responsible for a part of it.

          • I want them to set the game up so that it can differentiate between different patched versions of the game, so that when they release a new patch we do not need to fart around with pbems and demo games and pitboss games etc etc
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

            • Some mandatories that I'd like:

              1) Low system requirements.

              2) A game that runs out of the box without having to wait for two months of patching (except for very few, extraodinary cases - should be less than 1% of all computers that meet the system requirements).

              3) No more memory leaks, dammit!

              4) Blake does the AI.

              5) No more gameplay "tweaking" during patches unless one single strategy is clearly superior to all others and renders all others moot. It gets hard to remember if the Great Wall produced 1 GP point or 2 GP points :P

If they REALLY need to make changes, put it in an expansion pack as additions, not the patches.

              6) Stick to the traditional Seven Wonders of the World rule per era, even if this means less wonders. Better to have a few memorable wonders (i.e. the Pyramids) than many forgettable ones. Make Wonders memorable!

              7) Better wonder movies and more varied quotes.

              Will probably add more later

              • Yeah, well the recent proliferation of wonders in BtS is kinda okay for massive games with some 15+ players AI and human, but while playing at 2 - 8 players (most mp game range) it doesn't seem good that there's so many of those wonders available that each can pick one and still there are leftovers.

                • The ability to actually do something with tundra and desert. I love deserts and arid maps in general, but it a PITB that I usually can't do anything with them.

Irrigation? Maybe Fertilizer with the discovery of biology?

                  • Very good suggestion. Some sort of terraforming ability. There are plenty of growing cities in real world deserts but in civ you can do very little with a desert or tundra.

Always been a fan of tile terraforming. In civ 2, you could cut down mountains and turn it *eventually* to grassland.

Add mountains to the list. While I understand that my column of tanks won't do particularly well on the side of a mountain, I should be able to mine it, etc.

Perhaps some advanced forms of energy generation could be placed on these tiles in late game... geothermal wells could be drilled into a mountain for resources, heck you could even set up expansive solar farms on desert\tundra.

Or! Massive tourist destinations in the late game; a ski resort on an idea mountain, for instance. Something like a wonder; but build on the world-map for instance. Could be fun.

                          • I would like to see every Civ get two leaders and the ability to switch leaders (one time only) mid game. The trade off being several turns of anarchy.

I think finding a good point to switch between a leader with military traits and a leader with builder traits (or vice versa) would add a lot of depth.

+1 here ... even better, have a list of leaders for the civ (more than 2, but not a billion, just maybe 4-5) and be able to switch once to each leader - ie, you can have "anarchy" for 2 turns and go from exp/cre Pericles to Agg/Imp Alexander, or whatever. Then you can go to Ind/Org (third leader) later on.
