  • 1.) It would be nice to be able to see in the military advisor what units have which promotion or at the least what amount of exp points they have or even the level they are.

2.) Have comp manage production in a city automatically it would be nice if you could make it so the city won't produce military units and just make buildings.

Alt + hover over the upgrade button?

      • I wish there were a canal improvement, so you could link bodies of water together. I am surprised this hasn't made into any of the Civ games.

I used to do this in Civ I by building cities adjacent to each other, but in Civ II they took that away.

        • After you build one power plant, the others still show up as recommended; worse, after building Three Gorges Dam various power plants show up as recomended, even in the city that built the dam.

          • I believe the Alt-hover over the upgrade option is giving the cost to upgrade every unit that can be upgraded to the new one. What I really want is the cost to upgrade all of the old ones. For example, I have a few scattered swordsmen around that I want to upgrade to riflemen. I want to know the cost of upgrading them, but I get the cost of upgrading them, plus the cost of upgrading any musketmen, macemen, etc. to riflemen.

            • it is really hard to keep track of which is the correct file if you play multiple games with the same people. so:

[191] for PBEM games, please name the filenames with the game name. for instance: "The Terra Epos - 3900bc to Emperor_V" or similar
              coming back on this one:
it really is getting a pain in the arse with 10 running PBEMs where several come from the same person. if you get that and it is the same year, you'll overwrite the file unless you do one after the other.
this method basicly excludes the possibility of starting 2 games in parallel

              please fix this!!! *prettyplease*

                    • I would like to see more effects from razed cities....such that if you raze a city then after say 2 turns the farms get removed; and after 8 turns or so the mines are removed. I think it would add a little bit more strategy to the game.

Also, how about if you sink a ship in shallow waters it has say a 10% chance of becoming a reef (spawning a fish resource) ?

                        • Simple: Make culture obtained from buildings scale with map size and game speed or remove the scaling of culture needed for a legendary city. Otherwise those of us playing huge epic games can forget ever winning by culture.

                              • Just started playing CIV IV and my initial thoughts are that it's most excellent. I played CIV 2 and CIV 1 far too much but was half and half about CIV 3. I thought it had great ideas but I was less sure the sum of it's parts combined as well. CIV IV has a really good interface and IMO integrates all the decision/game components neatly. It might be the best version yet.

Thanks to this site I also now know why I was stalling as I was coming out of the classical period and into the medieval one. It's cottages and not roads you damn fool vercingettyrex.

Anyway on patches, tiny suggestion though not sure if it's something that can be implemented easily or at all for a patch : I'd like a replay turn option. I know it sounds like cheating, and probably is, but it could be countered by the system reducing your overall score everytime you use it to prohibit abuse. The reasons for this request are :

1.) When first playing the game it helps the player learn what works and what doesn't. Afterall I'm sure everyone from time to time has gone back to the main menu and reloaded the game. It's the same thing, just less time consuming. Most players after they they have achieved a certain familiarity with the game tend to make it a cardinal rule never to reload. They ride forward into the sunset mistakes and all. I know I do, and I'm sure most others do. It's a pride thing. But just at the beginning when we're still learning ... And CIV IV plays very differently as I am discovering.

2.) I'd like to check out some of the strategies dicussed here, particularly the diplomatic ones.

Also a film replay option would be handy for the Emperor level experts on this site to show and educate us brarbarians.
