  • Not sure if this has been suggested.

Make an overlay that shows the "fat cross" of each cities, so I can tell where I should build my next city, esp when I try to back fill.

What does electricity do?... I've put the time to search, and it's no where: many people might get bored before they find, and I didn't find (yet). It's basic... a one/two-lines Civpedia entry I say: "Electricity: does A B C, accessible with Y X Z buildings"

Neither could I get why I could build many centrals in a same city. Maybe the info is somewhere, but not somewhere I could find it.

I also wondered why my best-friend German had no "mutual defense" proposal despite having the tech and being "enthusiast". Didn't bother about wiki really... to see later

      • I took the time to try Civ4 and still don't get why conquered cities have NO improvements in them.

        - GalCiv has it, and it changes lots (strategy/fun/common sense)
        - It's the most consequential non-added feature I see in-game

If no big stats, please go simplistic style: player captures size12 city = 50% chances of granary, 20% of....

How come this didn't make the cut?...

        • They often have buildings standing when you capture them, Trifna. Wonders, an occasional courthouse and other things. Sometimes I wonder if it's a matter of how intense/prolonged the assault or bombardment was.

It usually takes so much in bombardment that nothing is standing by the time you take the city. It may have been full of stuff when you first got there but now it's all piles of rubble.

Of course, you could take without bombardment but it'll be harder. Them's the choices.

You can build power plants and you get bonuses on certain tile improvements.

              • regarding diplomacy:
[210] because civ4 has a much slower interface than civ3, finding the optimal deal is quite tedious. something like civ'3 "we are close to a deal" would be nice. or yet better two buttons: "give me your best deal" (closest acceptable combination) and a "what deal will make you like me" type of button

[211] the +/- bars for the cash - it would be nice to see that in the diplomacy table down the bottom to speed up stuff (interface is surprisingly slow).

                • However, the deals they offer in Civ4 aren't stupid. Just use what they suggest as a start and squeeze a little more out.

                  • they are not stupid, but it is still tedious to get a better deal.

what i do think is stupid are the excessive demands. i mean... if i've got sailing and horseback riding they ALL ask for civil service or metal casting or other expensive stuff. really annoying... do you guys ever give in to such demands?

                    • This one I have some sympathy with. And also declare war on x or we will give you a permanent minus in our relationship. That one is sooo annoying.

                      • The permanent minus is really annoying. Has that been fixed in any of these patches yet?

Make it last a long time or make how long it lasts depend on what was done (refuse a trade and I'll remember for a year, refuse tribute and I'll remember for a decade, declare war on me and I'll remember for millenia). But PERMANENT? That's not right.

Funny, I thought when you ask the AI for a deal, it will do just that -- offer the best it can. I know for sure I got the AI to offer stuff after a war that way...

It is because the graphics card has to render the stuff in background and the diplo interface. Moving the view over water or unexplored terrain first works a charm. To make this problem go you would have to [212] hide the normal view altogether during diplomacy.
                            Seriously. Kung freaking fu.

                            • Apologies for not picking through the millions of posts above this one, but a ctrl-f search through the top post turned up nothing related to this:

[213] Lines (unlike signs) drawn on the strategy layer map disappear when you reload a saved single-player game.

They already disappear. We don't want that as a feature. We want them to be saved and come back as a feature.
