  • Not sure if this has already been reported, but when I alt-tab from the game while in the diplomacy screen, the diplomatic choices (available in the bottom of the screen) become hidden under the normal interface, making it impossible to choose most of them (since you can only choose those which are on top as they stick out from under the UI bar in the bottom of the screen).

Normally you can close the window by pressing ESC, but if you get some offer from them, and at that time you alt-tab (e.g. someone is messaging you and it alt-tabs automatically) you are forced to choose the top option.

When I get home today I will try to get the screenshot of this bug.

Negative here. Your city can use the yield of the plot/tile with the improvement built on it, but your civilization only receives the resource when a road is linked.

(ie wrong message per the event)

Unless ..... I am playing as Spain (fishing comes as an inherent tech) and both cities were on the same coastline, so maybe they were getting connected by sea? --- but I didn't get that message when founding subseqent cities along the coast, which leads me to suspect a labeling bug.
It could be both things, actually.

Was the corn the first resource you got for your cities? My guess is you were connected by sea, but the game only chose to inform you about it when you got some resource to share.

          • Ah nuts... just paid 50 bucks for the game and it won't run.

I get this Failed to Initialize Rendererererer.... or something.

I've tried everything I can think of. Updated drivers, directx 9.0c or some such nonsense... still nothing.

Just great. Thanks for the aggravation, Firaxis.
Back to the store you go.

Did you go to the Civ4 support site? They've got like three or four different things to try and solve this.

              • This thing has a major memory leak. Once when the game was lagging really bad, I went into taskman. the civ4 executable was at 300mb.. whjich is just fine; but my mem usage was 2gb!!! when I booted up civ4, I was sitting at around 280mb. Once I kill civ, then the mysterious 1.4gig disappears.

                  2. Get other disk out of special packaging.
                  3. Search desk drawer for sharpie.
                  4 Search kitchen for sharpie.
                  5. Take sharpie back to desk
                  6. Remove cap to sharpie.
                  7. Take install disk, strike out "Install" and write "Play."
                  8. Take Play disk, strike out "Play" and write "install"
9 Make sure you didn't strike out the same word as your wrote.
                  10. Kinda chuckle at this and move on like you never read it.

I gotta wonder how sharp some of these guys are that, when given two disks, if one doesn't work - THEY GIVE UP IN WONDER!

If they had two keys and one didn't open the house they'd be locked out.

I have fouind that you do have minimal infiltration on those other civ's cities that have your founded religion in it. (that civ doesn't need to have adopted it as a state religion)

I say "minimal", 'cos it's only the units in the city that you see.

Clicking on the city reveals nothing, but roll the cursor over the city and in the screen bottom left you see the city, the troops within it. plus the usual info that you'd get without the religion (terrain defensive bonus, etc)

But very useful info indeed, which, in war, gives a decided advantage in choosing where to launch attacks

Also, if you have closed borders with that civ, all the cities they have with your religion in it are visible - again with their units listed - others are just designated territory on the map (ie you can't see the cities)

Advice taken - I'm at work now, so I'll try their recommendations when I get home.

On the bright side - I got plenty of sleep last night since I couldn't get the game to work.

                            • Do you have integrated graphics or a dedicated graphics card?
                              How much RAM has it?
If a card, ATI or Nvidia?

                              Just some basics.

                              • Donegal, I suggest you open a thread in the Civ4-Help forum... when you are more certain if what you experience is a bug and what it caused, then post it here, best coupled with a screenshot
