If you move over the ocean, for instance, you'll hear waves. If you move over the desert, you'll hear a dry wind blowing.
this is actually quiet cool!
That'll improve the feeling that you're *in* the game!
Farms, lumber mills, mines and the new windmills actually animate if they're being worked, so you can tell if a city's labor force is allocated properly without ever dropping down into a city view.
I hope you can still get into the city view, since I wonder if this animated thing actually will give an instant clear overview about which tiles are being worked.
And how are worked tiles animated without mines / farms / mills / etc. ?
We did confirm that each civ will get a unique unit
I really don't care about the unique units. Never did for cIIIv as well. I guess it's just a good way to market the game and come with expansions.
You can add a simple bonus to a unit's overall strength or grant a more powerful bonus that applies in more specific circumstances.
I wonder if the promotions are hand-picked by the player, or if they are random.
ie if one of my units will be promoted, will I be able to chose which promotion? Or will it be random? Or will it be: he won a fight in a forest so now he has more skills inforest fighting?
Daoist influence can also allow you get gold from Daoist cities.
this is new as well, I think.
Your entertainment specialists will also help add to a city's cultural growth
new info!?
Since the culture resets once you take a new city, you'll have to increase culture and build up the goodwill of the inhabitants before you can start to feel safe.
as in cIIIv, new info (to me) anyway!
Soren also mentioned that two civs can sort of team-up on technology research and get advances twice as fast.
This isn't new info, though I wonder.
If you team up with 3 civs, that means you go much quicker through the tech tree.
Does that mean the game will reach modern age before AD in normal games?
It definitely helps that you don't have to watch the AI turns anymore.
Does that mean that:
a. you'll get a super pc delivered with the game?
or
b. the ai will perform it's turns during your turns?Formerly known as "CyberShy"

While I admit it would be difficult to choose "amphibious ability" for a non-amphibious unit if the promotions were related to the victorious battle, I still would prefer that promotions be related to the combat circumstance.
Perhaps if the battle took place after a unit was landed on a beach-head.

Okay, I finally updated the opening posts. It's a MAJOR update with LOTS of new info, some of it you won't find anywhere else unless you look *really* closely. I would advise everyone to completely reread the entire thing, regardless of when you last looked at this thread.
If you accessed the first page of this thread in the last week, please immediately reload the page after you load it. I've been messing with images all week and some of them will probably be in your browser cache while they've been updated. Most browsers don't update images if they can get them from cache. Reloading a page immediately after loading it fixes that problem. If you don't reload you'll miss out on some cool stuff and the layout may be messed up. You only have to do this once.
Note that the Links section is still missing (but that's a minor issue, basically that will just link to all known previews and the like), as well as the 'Civilopedia', which will contain all known units, buildings, promotions, etc and their stats. A good portion of the info from the Civilopedia is there, but in 'placeholder' form, I will be updating that in the next few days.
Hope you enjoy the new format and info!
