Just played a little bit of it (on the PC) and stopped just before I got into Megaton.

      • So I went to the Super Duper Mart and found the Drugs room. I climbed on top of a shelf and then could not climb or jump back down. I had to reload.

Apart from that, I have not seen any other design problems. The only design problem I suspect may be around is my inability to trigger the "fix water pipes" quest in Megaton. But even that may simply have been an intentional "one shot only" type of mission.

        • Asher, since you played Oblivion, getting around the theft issue should be easy for you, because it's a variation of the same mechanic. There are no guards to come arrest you if you get caught stealing something; instead the owner (and guards if any) attack you. If you run away or fight back, their friends assist (and that's everyone if you're in Megaton). You can try yielding (in this game it's hold the R key to holster your weapon) and letting them have the item(s) stolen back, but on some enemies it doesn't work. The game makes an autosave every time you enter or leave a building or city (after zoning), so if you haven't zoned you can always just reload the earlier save.

As far as radiation goes, it has been 200 years since the bombs fell, so most of the radiation has dissipated. The food and water has lingering radiation, and there are some places that are waste dumps that have high radiation (I found one place that the rad count went from 1/sec to 4/sec in just a couple of steps). There are some places where you'll need to swim or wade through water for an extended period of time, and in those places the rad count can accumulate faster than you'd expect.

As far as technical issues go, I've had one lockup and two CTDs so far, and I've been playing daily since Wednesday evening. I've got somewhere between 30-40 hours of played time in that interval (yes, I had nothing else to do aside from work last week, so I've been nerding out on it), so stability has been fine for me. I never seem to have the technical issues that other people report.

Was this the Room with the Robot? I found the Apo. Key but hacked the Terminal before checking what the Door was called

              • The room with the robot was something different, actually. I had a hard time with that quest - the usual annoying oblivion-esque "specific items in quest", so I got some drugs and some food, but not the specific drugs or the specific food...

Also, in the Mole Rat quest:
                Spoiler:

I had a problem where the automated shooting thingie killed all of the mole rats, except about 4 - so I can't do the optional part. I am trying to kill mole rats in the outside areas, but it's slow going and I don't know if they'll count. Other option is wait until it respawns... anyone remember how to force an area to respawn??

                • In Oblivion it was the passage of 72 hours in game, and it's probably the same here. Did you go through the entirety of the Tepid Sewers? It's rather extensive, and there are some raiders as well. There's a back exit that leads out to one of the Georgetown Metro stations. I had to go through the whole thing to get enough mole rats to reach the optional goal.

It's worth noting one difference between this game and Oblivion: in this one, the interior areas do not respawn. Only areas outside seem to have hostiles respawn. If you head northwest from Vault 101, I found a ruined barn not terribly far away that had at least a half dozen mole rats as inhabitants. You should be able to complete that quest there if the sewers are totally empty.

Hmmmm, I thought I did, but I didn't find that metro station so who knows. Nearly all of the rooms had a dead mole rat or three in them. Wish I had 50 science to hack that gun ...

                              • A single shot from a combat shotgun was enough to take out that turret for me. Use the local map on the PIPBoy, you'll find an opening off to one side from the front section. It leads out into a subway tunnel (raider base), and beyond that you'll find more sewer tunnels with a mix of mole rats and raiders in there. Normally you won't find both in the same room, so they aren't shooting at each other. If you didn't find a raider named Rocksalt, you haven't been through the rest of it.
