Just wrapped up the main story. It's good. Tied up neatly with a little bow. Not sprawling and silly like Japanese games tend towards. Tranquility Lane was the most interesting bit of it. Final mission was sweet though.

Asher, I know you said something about buying the PC version because your SO was going to play Fable, but shouldn't you have two 360s? I mean, they run about the same price as a nice video card these days. And you don't need to deal with all the headaches.

I've had a few lock ups. I think three times over more than twenty hours. So yes, it needs a patch, but the 360 is more stable, just as one would expect.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here, and guess that Asher just doesn't like how most games present the back story. Mass Effect did a good job of not forcing you to sit through cut scenes full of nonsense, and pushed most of it into the journals. Fallout does a similar thing with the notes. Of course, some story is told in the game, but only the relevant parts.

I only have 1 TV and a 1bedroom apartment. He's also only here on weekends til he's out of school.

When we move in April-May we're getting another HDTV + 360.

One beef so far that could have been easily fixed by now if they had released the construction set. Radiation. It's way better done than the original games, which only had 1 (or was that 2?) irradiated areas each. But still, I find radiation isn't common enough here. I often drink water and eat meat for the hit points but the rate at which radiation accumulates then is slow. It's also slow when you're walking in radioactive areas, it's usually 1 rad / second. RadAway is common and, with my good Medicine skill, very effective. Thus far I haven't needed my radiation suit or Rad-X at all.

Everybody should feel sorry for Solver because he's not a horrible mutant freak yet.

I do agree that radiation is pretty weak. Unless you're drinking water out of dirty toilets, you never really build that much up. Aside from the one quest for Moira, I've only had to use a couple radaways the whole game.

I did find a bug. I was doing the good guy finger bounty perk thing, and the person I was supposed to bring them to ran away when I brought the fingers in. Now they're unconscious somewhere. I guess that's the price of Radiant.

I actually got 600 rads for Moira. And given that she can fix it, you don't even need RadAways for that quest.

On another note, wow the Bethesda forums are horrible now. Predictably, there are lots of people who love the game and lots of people who proclaim it to be crap, engaging in fights. But I'm amazed at some of the silly and sometimes uninformed stuff that gets posted. Some people actually blame Bethesda for stealing Fallout 3's 50s retro theme from Bioshock

Mine made a save right before leaving the Vault. Which is pretty sweet.

Should I buy this game or wait a month for a patch?

I was a rabid fan of Fallout 1 & 2. Oddly enough I picked up Fallout 1 on the shelf because I thought the game looked interesting. I had no idea about the good press. I was hooked.

Anyways, it's entirely within form for someone who steals in the game to be hunted down wherever he goes in a town. This has always been the case when dealing with bad karma. Save often and watch your karma.

From what I'm reading, sounds like waiting for a patch would be wise. Of course, I'm waiting for a whole new computer, so that's not a problem.

I had to reload an autosave from 30 minutes prior (leaving the vault). I didn't think I had to save to go screw around inside town...
