So, the only mechanic you discuss is plasmids -- something that's been done in many games called "magic". It's also pseudo-present in Halo in the function of equipment of different shields, grenades, etc. You've not played either game, as I understand it.

Name a good FPS aside from Halo that involves simply running and gunning from point A to B? Seriously, they're a dead breed because they suck.
Are you for real? Games like Halo are a dead breed?

I guess you didn't get the memo about the record-breaking sales?

Reality check, Wigwam -- it's not just you that matters in this world. In fact, I'd go so far to say that Wiglaf and Agathon are both not members of the same reality as the rest of us here. And I'm sure I'd get a lot of people agreeing with that..

The story makes Bioshock. The whole Ayn Rand 50s aesthetic is brilliant, and unlike any other game ever created. It's probably the only shooter in the history of video games that has some intellectual depth to it (although that's not saying very much).

The Jules Verne influence is also very heavy.

        • This argument is going in circles.

I leave this thread in the hands of Agathon and Wiglaf to construct new alternate realities for us all to mock and enjoy.

I do agree that BioShock is also an incredible game. Alas, it doesn't have a cover mechanic either. There goes Agathon's critique of Halo 3.

I can't wait til he moves on to the philosophical meanderings of why Halo 3 sucks. That'll be entertaining. He moves from one piece of nonsense to another until he enters Philosophy where he can pretend to win, since there's no right nor wrong.

          • You should take a good philosophy course somewhere to get over your obsession with insulting the entire discipline.

            • <--- has taken 3 and pwn3d them all. The only people who had trouble with them were the philosophy majors.

              • What school? Better yet, tell me the professor. He probably stole your Nintendo 64 or something.

                • Let's start a Philosophy thread in the OTF and I'll be happy to discuss it again.

I must've really pissed you off. This is the fourth edit I've seen on this simple comment since you've posted it.

                    • Asher, how long did it take for you to get your 360 back from the repair center?

                      • Usually 2 weeks from start to finish (they send you a box, you send it back with your console, they send a replacement).

                        • Yea, I already shipped them the 360. I called yesterday to check the status and they said it had arrived the 19th but was still being repaired. Hopefully, I will get it late next week.

OK I am going to go do something else. Enjoy your 360 when it gets there if ever (probably what 10 weeks so far it's been?) and don't forget to call your mother and tell her what a fine child she has raised. Jesus H Christ. I still didn't get a school or professor name, BTW. I assume you went to some compsci college in Canada that has no philosophy department. This would explain the way you drive around in circles like a nutless hamster. Please report back when you can stop spewing non sequiturs and can actually address my arguments. Until then I am going to go to a work related social event where they won't be playing Rock Band of Halo 3 but will rather be TALKING and ENJOYING OURSELVES and not WASTING TIME GAMING with prepubescent little girls on XBL. Good day Oh it's funny how everyone on this forum who has a 360 has a broken one. Maybe when I buy a 360 it will break too? ODDS ARE GOOD.

                            • "compsci college with no philosophy department"? LOL.

I didn't give it 'cause it's not relevant here. I said I'd be happy to discuss the failings of filosofical meanderings in school in an OTF thread, not here.

                              • Asher only starts steering threads to his lamentable knowledge of philosophy when he's getting his arse kicked on the thread's topic.

IIRC he did some joke intro to philosophy courses. He claims to have got an A in these, although he posted a paper he had written once, and everyone else who had done philosophy thought it was poor, and that it would be unlikely he had got an A, unless the instructor was poor.

These are simple interest courses that deal with crap like the existence of God, which you almost never do again if you go on in the discipline. In fact, it's hard to think of another subject in which the introductory and advanced courses are so different.
