Well, they haven't rereleased the games themselves. You just stick the old disc in the drive, go online, it downloads "an update", and then if the game is supported in back compatibility mode, you'll be able to play. Of course, you clearly wanted to "hear that from the man himself," and I am sure he will provide.

    • Don't give him a big head, I just wanted to know what bogus reason he would give for the lack of backwards compatibility. Since there doesn't seem to be a lack I'll move on.

That's not hard when you only have five.

            Bogus reason?

Completely new architecture from the ground up (even the data is stored "backwards" in order from before) as opposed to an overclocked old architecture...

              5 > 0 for the GCN.

The only game that got much play on my GCN was Tales of Symphonia, and I wasn't the one playing that.

As I said, there doesn't appear to be a lack, which is what I was clarifying.

Ah, see, he got the Gamecube 1.5 comment in anyway. No worries, DrSpike!

                  • So is it just me or does RE4 have terrible controls?

                    • Yes. Believe it or not, it's a huge improvement over its predecessors.

                        • They never seemed horrible to me. Aside from the fact that you can only either move or shoot, which is unrealistic but does make things tougher.

                          • Considering the whole game is moving and shooting, you'd think they could make at least that part make sense.

Yeah, like a racing game where you can't accelerate and turn at the same time. A challenge, for sure. Fun, not so much.

Possibly. It certainly would require rebalancing the game; the enemies would have to become faster if they were to ever catch you. That, or every one of them would have to have a projectile weapon.

Unless you're running low on buckshot, I find the best way to clear out a room is usually just to put yourself in a corner anyhow and start shooting (using buckshot whenever they become too thick).

YMMV. In this case it's actually not challenging as gameplay is balanced around it; it just prevents the game from being a cakewalk.

Personally, I never much liked shooters on consoles in general; I never understood the appeal of aiming with an analog stick. RE4 is one of the few I ever bothered to learn to aim in.
