What's your opinion about Zelda?
Is it good? How the dongeons?
How is the Wii Controller with the games?
Firstly, the game itself:
The last Zelda I played all the way through was Link to the Past. I never played more than a few minutes of Ocarina of Time, so Twilight Princess was the first I've experienced the 3D Zelda. The game, like the rest of the series, shares a lot in common: dungeon settings, locations, etc. The recipe is the same: enter dungeon, figure out puzzle to unlock various keys and objects, backtrack to previously unreachable areas, beat boss. Repeat. Some people hate the repetition and think Zelda is a tired franchise, others love it. I fall somewhere in between, as I haven't played every single Zelda game released.
The puzzles were well thought out, and make good use of the various items you pick up. The storyline so far, IMO, is lacking in some background - this is not necessarily a complaint against TP, but against the Zelda series as a whole. The plot itself is interesting, but again, lacks depth. I would like to see the characters more fleshed out*. At the same time, the game does a good job of making you feel a sense of urgency, and sense of "oh crap" when you face a dungeon boss, and a sense of accomplishment after you kick ass.
So, great puzzles that require a lot of thought, some really cool dungeon bosses so far, and a plot that keeps me interested. What about graphics?
IMO, playing this game without component cables is going to be a bad experience. While not on the level of Oblivion or Gears of War, Zelda:TP still looks really kickass, IF you have component. The composite cables, by their nature, make the game look shoddy.
How does the new control scheme work? Is it better than a GameCube controller? That depends.
Aiming your bow and arrow is a lot more interactive with the Wii. Fishing is a little "minigame" that would lose all its fun on a regular controller. Even moving around on the Wii is enjoyable, as you can play in a very relaxed posture. On the other end of the spectrum, the game wouldn't be that much worse on a GameCube controller, since TP was obviously planned for the GC. The controls don't feel "tacked on", but at the same time a lot of times swinging the Wiimote does nothing more than perform a gesture that translates into a button.
Apologies for lack of cohesion, I was multitasking. In short, the game is fun, worth the 50 bucks, but certainly not without flaws. IMO, the game on GC would be a 9/10. On the Wii, 7.9 or 8/10, simply because it should've spent some more time on the burner, being molded into a true Wii title.
*Granted, I have not beaten the game, so maybe more information will be revealed throughout. But even so, the game lacks the kind of introduction/prologue that...Final Fantasy VI/III had (that's the one that came to mind).
According to the posters a few pages back when I asked this, the suggestion was that by Jan/Feb it should be reasonably possible to get a Wii without standing in line.

Apparently there will be many available this weekend, as Best Buy and Gamestop have been holding off selling them in anticipation of the last weekend before Christmas. There will still probably be lines, though.
that was a good read. I class myself as a hardcore gamer, but dont give a fig for graphics or pvp(unless its on a strat game with a bunch of people i know in real life, and probably as a 'hotseat' game), so it was interesting to read an asher-like hardcore gamers comments.
