  • Heroes on IGN:

GN: So why did you choose the same graphic style as Killer 7?

Suda: As you've seen in the trailer, the graphics are similar to Killer 7, but in the game the graphics will be a little different from the trailer. It'll be more illustration-based, with 3D maps. I think you'll be surprised when you see the game!
IGN: When is the game expected for release?

Suda: Both in US and Europe you'll be playing Heroes before 2008, so sometime in 2007.
IGN: Are you afraid that games are getting too expensive to develop?

Suda: Well, Grasshopper isn't a big company, we're really small, and to develop new games and projects, the Wii is the best platform for us right now. The budget for developing a Wii game very reasonable for developers who are doing new projects. On other platforms it can be very expensive to make games. If we made games for the PS3 or 360, it'd require a huge budget.

This remaster of a previously solid entry in the Super Monkey Ball franchise initially thrills, but the shine fades fast.

        • Hm... the Brits get a not-that-bad looking Pinball game as a launch title. As a US fan of pinball, I am driven to complain about it on the internet!

          • Monkey Ball.

The LL and I were talking about getting a Wii. Having a good Monkey Ball title at launch (along with Zelda and the intriguing-sounding Trauma Center) pretty much seals the deal for me. Now we just have to find one.

            • More Wii = More games; and if we're lucky, more good games also.

              One Million Wiis Worldwide
              Nintendo crosses the big landmark.
              by Anoop Gantayat

December 7, 2006 - The Wii is less than three weeks old, but it's already reached a major sales landmark. Kyodo News reports that Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, during a speech given in Tokyo on the 7th, revealed that the system has crossed the one million mark in worldwide sales.

America accounted for more than 50% of the sales, the news service reports. In the eight days following the 11/19 launch, Nintendo managed to sell 600,000 systems in the American market. In Japan, Nintendo sold 400,000 systems on the 12/2 launch day.

Iwata took a slight jab at the competition during his speech, stating, "We aren't planning on competing with the PS3, but we'd like it to be said that in the end, Nintendo sold more."

Rayman is a lot of fun for groups of (possibly inebriated ) people. Though to be quite honest, I was a bit disappointed that in quite a few minigames you can't actually have two people playing at the same time. It kinda kills the fun a little bit to do it alone and then watch the other person(s) play alone, just trying to beat your score. Those minigames that do allow simultaneous play make up for that though.

                    • I rented tony hawk downhill this weekend.

                      Reviews were mediocre.

                      My review:
Enjoyable enough for this type of game. basically a rip off of SSX on wheels. Very easy to land after tricks, which really decreases the difficulty level. Voice overs get really annoying fast. Enough variation in challenges and courses for me as well as boards and unlockable characters. Graphics are not cutting edge, but don't bother me at all.

Controls are interesting, I like turning the mote slightly or more to turn. REally looking forward to SSX: Blur and hopefully a more advanced/tighter control scheme.

6.8/10 from me -I'm waiting for Blur before I purchase a game like this.

A good rental for the weekend, though.

I don't have a second controller, so I can't comment on multiplayer. And my wife got really frustrated right away with the control system....

Isn't the point that it's simple and intuitive?

                        • 1. We didn't have the manual (rental) so it was a bit of guesswork
                          2. She tends to get frustrated very easily by these things, esp when she sees me controling it so easily. Another 10 inutes with the game and she would have been fine. The biggest problem is the steering, how far to tilt the controller to make a certain type of move.

Also bear in mind that we're old.

                            • popped into a local "Game" store(like that big chain you have in the usa, eb or something like that?) on the weekend, not that i buy much these days.

They had a queue of about 30 kids(some with parents in tow) waiting to try the Wii out. Lots of very 'physical' arm movements - i guess they had all seen the TV adds and were copying?

They seemed to be having fun......and if kids(typicaly self concious, and worried about looking 'un-cool') are prepared to play the wii in public, then i think Nintendo may be well on its way to winning next-gen?

Depending on how the wii's ability to play GC games go - i might stick with the GC(and xbox) and remain next-genless, certainly wii-sports isnt the kind of game that would get me personaly to want to buy a wii.

Still i applaud nintendo's vision - something different had to happen to stop gaming de-generating into a slew of movie like shorts with little depth or re-playability.

                              • I was visiting my local Game store today. There is next to impossible to get a Wii before next year it seems, but this store had a Wii to try out. A few kids were having great fun it seemed. After looking for a while I and my two buddies got to try, and man, did we love it! One of my buddies said afterwards that it was no way Xbox or Playstation would be the same anymore, he was going to get a Wii! The other one was quite sure he was going to get one too, but still was not against getting one of the others also. I myself will get one as soon as it gets available next year or I get one for Christmas.

BTW, I didn't know I had all those weird muscles in my arms.
