OK, I'm a bit tired, so I'm gonna do the update first thing in the morning to avoid making too many mistakes.

Orders will be accepted by then.

I woke up fresh and eager to process this most interesting and unusual turn.

Orders are frozen! Let me just say that some players will be leaving us and a unique situation will be solved in accordance with the rules, but the rules will need a change.

                      The Orange Catholic Bible

Zol Ventis, head of Ventis societies was in New Constantinopol for an audience with the Emperor of the known universe Paddyshah Basileus Naviwinat. Ventis hoped to procure for himself the exclusive rights to mine the spice on Arrakis while the Emperor wished to use the powerful sprawling Ventis societies for his goal of strengthening his absolute rule.

                      They also considered future targets.

"I shall attack and destroy that pesky Poly Siffan", said the Emperor. "She was appointed head of MY Imperial Bureau of Knowledge by the Imperial Senate on MY recommendation. But soon after she started to misuse the public funds and created a virtual imperium within the imperium. She controls all space travel and receives incredible amounts of money in hyperspace travel tolls and tariffs. I never see a single cent of that money. And to make matters worse, I can't touch her cause she has half of the Senate on her payroll and I don't have the authority to fire her!"

"An excellent choice Sire", Zol Ventis approved. "Your Majesty, I should not sit idle either. I would appreciate if you could suggest an appropriate target for my numerous fleet."

"I hear that there are many machines on X. New machines. And that these machines can think."

"Think Sire", Zol Ventis asked in disbelief. "Can anyone be so stupid to make another thinking machine after our near destruction in the Butlerian Jihad?"

"Yes. I hear that the machines have already taken over X and are controlled by the one called Colony I. You must destroy them utterly. Remeber thy Orange Catholic Bible: Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a man's mind."

"I shall fly to X this instant and melt all the machines I find there."

"Farewell my loyal friend! God speed!"

                      Zol Ventis attacks! Colony I

Zol Ventis: 12LC, 1LF, OoB: LML-TFT, close in, spread out, fight to death
Colony I: 4LB: OoB: LLFFTT close in, spread out

                      100L - 48L - Colony I takes 52 hits
                      M - 48L - Zol Ventis takes 48 hits
400L - 0F (unopposed and manoeuvred) - Colony I takes 400 hits (lazzorgeddon) and his entire fleet is destroyed

Zol Ventis took control of X and the two small satellites orbiting the planet. He kept his promise to the Emperor and dismembered Colony I mainframe and melted its parts.

                        Paddyshah

News came to the Emperor of Zol Ventis' success. The casualties his fleet took were grave though; Ventis lost a total of 7 laser cruisers and 1 laser frigate.

"It matters not", said the Emperor, "once I have finished with Siffan all our enemies would be gone and our grip on the power firm.

But there was a problem. Since Siffan and her agents controlled the hyperspace travel, she would never allow the Emperor to travel to her bases with a large fleet. Only a sole Imperial shuttle followed by a few escort ships would be allowed by Siffan, nothing more.

The Emperor thought long and hard how to solve this problem. He hated Siffan's guts but could not touch her. The frustration was killing him. Then he got an idea.

"What if we told her that our Imperial fleet was on military manoeuvres near her bases", suggested the Emperor to one of his admirals.

"That could work Sire, but Siffan is not stupid. She will check for the order of battle of our fleet before she lets us into the hyperspace", the admiral replied.

Yes, this was a big problem. But the Emperor's hatred toward Siffan was so great he could restrain himself no more.

"What if we actually sent our fleet on an attack mission, but issued no order of battle", asked the Emperor.

"Forgive my boldness Sire, but that would be madness. Our fleet would be destroyed", the admiral said.

"Only if the other fleet opposed us. But I expect that sending a fleet with no order of battle would lull Siffan into a false sense of security and that she too will not issue an order of battle to her fleet."

"For the record Sire, I think that there is a very slim chance this could work."

"Just follow your orders Admira. Set course for Polly Siffan's bases!"

                        Basileus Naviwinat attacks! Polly Siffan

                        Basileus Naviwinat: 37FF, NO OOB
Polly Siffan: no fleet, no oob

Polly Siffan is eliminated and the Emperor takes control of her two bases.

                              Intrepid Explorer

Through his fearless exploits and enterprises, the incurable adventurer Captain Imperium managed to amass an incredible wealth. Mainly obtained through plunder of defenceless natives of the worlds he had discovered (and conquered), this money was nevertheless used wisely and Captain Imperium soon became the leader of a small duchy with the capital on the forest moon of Caladan. He even purchased the title from one former Duke Leto who had some debts he had to settle and even made one appearance in the Imperial Senate, voting against the proposal to give Zol Ventis exclusive spice mining rights on Arrakis.

This unfortunate vote showed that although his fighter piloting skills were unmatched in the known universe, his political skills were somewhat lacking - he alienated the powerful Emperor's senatorial faction.

The punishment for political ineptness is swift and deadly.

                              General Ordin attacks! Captain Imperium

General Ordin: 13LC, OoB: LLT-TFF, close in, spread out, fight to the death
                              Captain Imperium: 1TB, 1LF, TTL-LFF. back off

But the famous fighter pilot failed to build any fighters. Had he built just a few ships more he would have carried the day.

                              26L - 3T - Captain Imperium takes 23 hits
                              26L - 3T - Captain Imperium takes 23 hits
                              0T - 2L - General Ordin takes 2 hits

Captain Imperium is eliminated and General Ordin takes his 3 bases without losing a single ship.

Perhaps one of the reasons Captain Imperium performed so poorly in the field of battle was the sabotage of one of his shield generators perpetrated by General Ordin's spy hours before the battle.
