The Second Butlerian Jihad
A split in the Emperor's party. General Ordin unhappy about the riches Zol Ventis was allowed to exploit when he received exclusive rights to mine spice on Arrakis confronted Ventis and the Emperor asking for his share.
"Look Ordin, my share is 40% and I don't care about your share as it will certainly come out of Zol's profit", said the Emperor.
"Spice is in high demand. Even a smaller share means big money. How 'bout 3%", Zol Ventis asked Ordin.
"Out of question! I provide military protection and escort for your spice dealing operations. And I got us rid of that annoying Captain Imperium. Ten percent at least", General Ordin demanded.
At that moment an imperial messenger arrived bearing news of the total defeat of General Ordin's home forces and the loss of his home bases.
"Well Ordin, I guess I'm gonna have to find someone else to offer me military protection. You're out", Zol Ventis said.
"Zol, I'm gonna charge you extra 10% for the protection my elite legions of Sardaukar will provide. And you can only say yes", said the Emperor.
"Yes, Your Majesty", Ventis replied.
"Ordin, you're out of the loop now. Furthermore, you are dismissed from the imperial service. Get lost!"
General Ordin left in disgrace, but vowed to get his revenge. But for that he needed a cunning plan. And he had one. He knew a certain religious fanatic, one Reverend Ken Banobi who spent all his time kissing his precious Orange Catholic Bible. He had obtained certain parts of the machinery brought back from X for examination at the imperial labs, so he showed them to Banobi and claimed they were produced in New Constantinopol on orders of Paddyshah Emperor himself.
"Paddyshah Emperor is a heretic? Then we have no choice but to proclaim Jihad! Emperor Basileus Naviwinat must be destroyed", Reverend Banobi raved.
"I support you all the way Ken. Let's ally and let's put a stop on Emperor's immoral works", Ordin suggested.
So the two allies assembled their fleets and fuelled by religious fervour they sped for the capital city. But there the Emperor had a big surprise for them - a newly erected energy shield which destroyed 18 hitpoints total of their combined fleet tonnage. Reverend Banobi lost a single laser cruiser, while General Ordin lost two. The Emperor's fleet remained snug and secure.
