Finally in Hangman 27 anti-slang rules were added.


On two occasions we had an argument about situations involving consecutive word guesses but no decision was reached and since the rules allowed consecutive word guesses, they were made sporadically and counted regularly.

Well it seems odd that a word guess triggers an update but that you can get more word guesses in if you beat the setter.

Yeah... if the first word is wrong, the setter has an incentive to hold off and wait for more incorrect guesses.

A question for rah: would it be too much work to pcr people after each hangman thread?

Doing so would be the best of both worlds, IMO. The spamming incentive would be lost, threads could stay here, and we get to hold on to our rich hangman history.

As long as I don't loose more than I've posted(contary to the other, IMO idiotic, proposition of giving 100 post pcr to the five leading posters... ), it would be a tolerable, if far from ideal, solution.

Then don't spam the thread. In the other proposal you won't have lost any, btw. It was just suggested as a way for the mods do have less work to do. For that, I'm more than willing to lose an extra 25 posts or so. If it keeps people motivated only by spam and +1s out of the game, all the better.

As for it just being "tolerable," it would have the same effect as a move to the OT (one you seem very eager to make), without the added problems that such a move would create.

Please re-read the post. All I said was, that proposal only has an impact on someone if they spam up the thread.

As far as you taking that as an insult, it doesn't even come close to calling one's ideas idiotic, now does it?

Idiotic, because it would be unfair. Just check your own statistics above. And yes, if I get the impression someone's calling me something I'm not, I get insulted. We should be fair with each others after all.

I don't think that past threads should be pruned. They can't be changed and they're not able to change the current situation, so there's no value in deleting them.

I don't think the game will take off in the OT; there is a reason why Word Association died
We can give it a shot in OT, but in the end, I think it's better off being moved to another place (like Eventis).

There is already a hangman game at Eventis, along with mafia, diplomacy, a couple of D&D campaigns, and the occassional GO variant. Running forum games there is completely independent of running them here.

There was Hangman started at CGN not too long ago as well. I think the last word was Chernobyl, so it's a slightly different ruleset to these ones

PCRing people is a punishment. I wont be accepting any PCRs for playing in a game deemed legal.

That's just silly. What exactly is the difference between getting a pcr for post made playing a game here and not receiving the +1s in the first place for posts made playing a game in the OT? If one is a punishment, then the other must be too.
