What a dick. Check the rules of the game, perhaps harrasment of this sort falls under the bashing rules or something. Don't send back any insulting messages or else the attacks will be allowed.

The good and bad news is this guy is a noob to me. It means some of our more military-oriented players can smash him though.
I'm playing in uni8 still. Refreshing the page put uni8 back in the list.Last edited by Skanky Burns; November 16, 2005, 20:27.I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Yay, in around 20 hours my first nanite factory opens up.
Hooray!
I've been playing with speedsim and have decided I want a deathstar. They are very cheap to run, too. To attack someone 10 systems away it only takes 1 deuterium to get there!I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

When I can afford it. I'm getting the tech there. The problem is you can't research at one planet and build up the labs at another planet. So I'm stuck waiting for my second colony to finish its lab 5 before I can continue research.
Probably after I get hyperspace engine 5.I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I am hoping someone wiser then I can help me to understand a sequence of events from early tonight.
I recieved 2 messages that I had been scanned by a nearby person. Shortly after the second one I got the message in red that a fleet (of 48 Battleships) was bound for one of my colonies (which had roughly 8k in total resources + 2 espionage probes + 2 solar sats). I didn't think it was worth 48 Battleships but would have lifted the remaining resources off the planet if I had a fleet to do so and let him smash his 48 Battleships into my 2 ss (anyone want to speedsim that one for me
). However I also had a returning fleet of 2 small cargo's coming back from delivering goods to another planet and they were due to arrive 7 seconds before his attack and while they wern't too much to worry about I thought I would send him a message trying to discourage him from attacking (and letting him know I was active, which has worked for me in the past to get someone to cancel an attack). Here is the sequence of 4 messages we exchanged:
1) I sent him a message letting him know that his battleships weren't going to find much on my planet when they arrived because it had limited resources.
His reply (2):
To which I said...(3) my fleet will be gone by the time you arrive (I was referring to my espionage probes but I wasn't sure if he knew what my fleet was and wasn't about to reveal it if I didn't need to).11-17 00:25:57 Kanenas [3:309:9] Re:Your impending attack
How about your fleet? ;-)
And his response blew me away and still does:
I can't figure out how he had any idea that (1) my fleet was coming back and (2) that it would be back in 7 seconds before his attacking battleships11-17 00:33:03 Kanenas [3:309:9] Re:Re:Re:Your impending attack
If you believe that 7 seconds is enough for you to fleetsave then I'll cancel my attack.
Anyway, I'm just practising...
(Though it didn't much matter as he withdrew at this point)
Do any of you with higher espionage then my level 8 (or anyone for that matter) have any idea
how someone would know not only that I have a fleet returning but also that it is scheduled to return 7 seconds before his fleet arrives??

Yep, he has phalanx, which also means he has a moon. Which also means he is dangerous. At least he isn't a jerk though, so that is something.
Oh, and he would have taken heavy losses from your solar sats.

How big fleet you can expect from a player with say 1.5k score?
And what would most likely be his best ship? (cruiser?)-- What history has taught us is that people do not learn from history.

Thanks for the help bin and Skanky, I think I had read about Sensor Phalanx a while ago but obviously forgot what they did
(Good to see binTravkin answering a question instead of asking one
).
By the way Skanky, in your desire to get a Deathstar obviously the most difficult part of it will be Graviton Tech. Do you have plans on how to get this? I am wondering if Intergalactic Research Network would be any help in this. The only requirements for Graviton (after a Research Lab level 12) is Energy (though when I say "only" I realize it is 300 000 in Energy which is a massive investment). The benefit is that the research time is 0. Once you have 300 000 in energy available you get it instantly I understand. But if you had IRN on 2 planets or more, and those planets had Research labs of level 12 or more, could they work together on Graviton do you think? (By each producing a portion of the Solar Sats required??) I can't find the answer to this one either anywhere I look and it would be a dangerous test in that it would be a massive waste of resources to find out that the solar sats on teh 2 (and 3 +) planets were worthless in that only the one planet could research it by itself.

At a guess I'd say no. The IRN description says that all resources need to be located at the planet doing the research, so I'd presume that included energy as well. To be honest I haven't actually looked at the requirements to get the technology but damn, that will be quite difficult to get to!I'm building a wagon!
