Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
They can't? Are they only effective against ground troops?
Carolus
against all units they can only do 50% damage. This can be modified in the editor. I still haven't tried rasing that to 100% (which would kill them I would suspect)
Hm, I see... So there's a new tactical twist when you attack...
But don't units need to be adjacent to the units they attack anymore? Cats are powerful in Civ 2 as well, but they're very vulnerable and need to be stacked with defensive units when attacking...
It's not a selfplaying piano attacking with cats (like, say, the howie sweep)... It's slow and needs careful planning... Is there something new in Civ 4 about that (is bombarding = attacking from many squares away?)?
Remember there is no ADM now, so cats don't have 1 defence, they have 5 strength.
You still need to defend them, but when you manage it well they are very powerful. Remeber best defender defends and the rock/paper/scissors is more pronouned in Civ4.
When cats attack (win or lose) they do collateral damage, and if this was allowed to go to 100% then cats would be even more powerful. As is stands now you still need the units to mop up after the cats have done their thing.

And did that work for you UR?
Absolutely no effect whatsover.
However after I lowered colour depth to 16-bit it works better. Still not free of problems, but better.

So now if we could just give the ability to have planes attack specific targets in a city, I would be very happy. It's not like the Japanese on Dec7 set out to destory the city infrastructure and missed and accidently sunk the battleships.
Catapults can attack and destroy units.....but they will take damage. Bombard knocks units to 50%, but cats don't get damaged.
Bombers are awesome for reducing defenses and for reducing enemy unit strength to 50%.
The best part of these features, is that, if you have 10 Bombers stacked and use it to bomb a city, it only uses the amount of the bombers necessary to reduce defense to 0. The rest of the bombers can make a second run to reduce unit strength to 50%.
Remember there is no ADM now, so cats don't have 1 defence, they have 5 strength.
Ah, I forgot about that! Maybe I should refrain from discussing a game until I've actually played it...
I've picked up a new laptop now... Don't know if it will handle Civ IV well, though... It has an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 video card (128 MB)...
Well... I might pick up a new desktop by the time the Game of the Year Edition comes out... It's about time to retire this one, which I bought in october/november 1998... Upgraded once or twice, but still ...
