Not to mention the fact that you have promised to actually buy the game ... probably says more than anything

Early days still, but it's nice to actually have to think about what you are going to do instead of just following some formula (which is what Civ 3 gameplay ended up being).

But time will tell if some uber-strategy gets uncovered...

I'd laugh heartily if Sava went to the 'polycon and there was a huge gang of games developers waiting to beat him up.

I'm enjoying the game very much, seems to be the best Civ game so far. It runs perfectly on my system. Only one problem with it - I have shedloads of work to do, little time, and its keeping me away from Other Games. Ah well, at least I'm having fun.

                Advantages over Civ3:
                Looks better
                More options
                Plays smarter

Its not quite as slick as Guild Wars (my gold standard for slickness) Its not quite as immersive as SMAC (my gold standard for immersion) its not quite as moddable as NWN (my gold standard for oh you get the picture...)

                BUT

But its overall very good in all catagories, and its one of my favorite genres. A nice balance of familiar and new make it already seem kinda cosy.

I expect I shall play in in my meagre free time untill NWN2 comes out in 2006.

I haven't experienced the "just one more turn" feeling since the Civ2 days, but finally it's back... why don't I have as much time as I did back then

So far it beats every Civ game in all parts except one: Diplomacy... I really miss the option to trade some goods/luxuries for a tech

Not sure if I qualify as an other gamer (though I do tend to read the threads here) but atleast I'm a civ 2 regular (well scenario league really but...).

I'm loving civ 4 so far

I think I'm going with the crowd who has already said Civ IV is the best Civ ever. And like many people I get that 'one more turn' feeling that keeps me up until 3 in the morning (of course, I'm an insomniac, and I'm at the start of my summer break now, so its not so bad)

This time around I've started on Noble, and even though I've yet to master the game, and win a game, Its still a lot of fun.

Civ IV? What's that? A new CtP2 mod?

Oh wait! Might after all be a new Civ title.

Honestly I have during the whole year pretty much read zero previews, reviews, news, reports, etc. on Civ IV. Nada. Several screenshots and some background buzz on IRC (no, not Poly) about it, but other than that the game has been pretty much outside the spectrum of things keeping me busy now. I play anyway quite little these days, out which none has been strategy lately. Haven't minded to give a ratass about it so far.

I do however intend to get the three different versions of it (US, Europe and the special edition) for my almost complete Civ collection. So I guess will be playing it then. However honestly speaking I have no hurry or urge to get the game now, no matter how splendid it is.
