How many hammers does that cost to make?
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Hey, you need at least to check if your copy isn't broken!
Imagine your horror the day you have a hard drive error, and need to reinstall cIV and just then notice that little scratch on the back.

Well... I took the liberty to get one of my friends to test it for me. He has never played Civilization before, but after one day he's hooked, so I might persuade him to buy it
This space is empty... or is it?

There's no doubt; this is a must have!

Upgrading to a new laptop this week... The specs are incredible for a strategy game, though... What kind of easter egg did they put in there, Far Cry?

Finding a time slot to play the game is perhaps the most difficult part... I might have to drop Civ2 MP...

Hm... Some people seem to have problems with the running of the game:

I'm still playing it, but I'm getting frustrated losing all the time. Simply, I hate losing. . I don't really play for the challenge so much as a simulation. That's why you'll never see my playing Diety. Losing hurts my self esteem too much.

Hehe it is pretty graphically intensive. The MP is great fun from what I've seen so far (2 weeks of solid MP now, haven't even played a SP turn) though, so I think you'll like it.

                    Get better.

Whilst you are at it, get better at spelling.

Why don't you challenge Sava to a game of MP? He doesn't mind losing at all.

What do you think about the combat system? I read a couple of players' threads in the Civ 4 fora and there were some negative opinions about it (mainly that it's biased in favour of the defender)...

Edit: Since I'm not the aggressive, warmongering Civplayer-type, that's actually good if true!

I refuse to learn how to spell deity correctly.

you can still take over cities. Yeah defenders get a lot of bonuses, but you can still make progress. A bigger knock on warmongers is the city maintenance you get when you take over too many cities.

I have problems with the air combat. They did some weird things there. For gameplay purposes of course. Is it too much to ask to have a bomber sink a battleship? Was December 7, 1941 not a day of infamy? Apparantly it wasn't. because planes can't sink ships.

Okay, I feel better now I vented.

Well there are 2 elements to the critique.......one that A/D is now just strength, so that a wounded tank is more like a knight for example (rather than before where the tank would still be a tank but with less HP), and two that the defenders have too many advantages, particularly 40% (or more) defence + 25% fortification + modifiers for units with city defence.

Both concerned me at first, but I'm more used to the first now, and it does create nice tacical possibilities. The second is still an issue IMO, but not as bad as many make out. It would only take a slight rebalancing to make it fine I think. Right now there are very specific windows where you can attack, and outside of those windows you can't. There is a lot of harassing in the game though, which is fun.
