  • After losing a major fleet battle, I've managed to rebuild.

    Now I've got a large shield dome, plus a rocket base with 3 ABMs which should be enough to stop any inter-planetary missiles (those things could wreck your day, month). For the fleet, 4 lt fighter, 4 h fighters and 5 cruisers.

    Should be strong enough to hold most stuff, eh.

      • Universe 8 is the major Apolyton alliance, if you search for it you should be able to request to join.

        (and hopefully Germanos is back by then too, which will make 20 members, strength of numbers which will come in handy as the game progresses).

            • bashing #10 again, he must really dislike me by now

              i've expanded my herd in the last couple of days too, so i'm getting a decent resource income now, although past 4:470 or so targets are very few and far between, mostly very strong players/colonies.

                I'm not sure if I will return:
                1- I might drop out alltogether due to time constraints
                2- if the motto is 'one for all, all for one' , I'm game (pun intended). If not, I'll save my efforts for personal glory

                • I am not sure I understand fleet saving, I get the concept and why you do it, just don't know how to.

                  Do I send out my fleet (loaded with my resources) at a lower % speed to somewhere I never intend to arrive at based on:

                  1) the amount of time I expect to be away from the computer

                  2) the amount of time I expect to be away from teh computer divided by 2 (flight time and return time)

                  Either way it seems I have a problem, as if i go with (1) I have to wait for my fleet to return when I cancel the order and recall the fleet and if (2) then they will arrive at their destination while I am away and deliver the goods to someone else.

                  Unless you can speed up their return flight when you recall the fleet?

                  • Sparrow, you send it to a colony, or to an ally.
                    Once you get back, you pro'lly have to send it full throttle back to where you need it.

                      Agreed, and I like the all for one theory, just not sure how to put it in practice.

                      It seems we cannot share resources (unless the receiver is less powerful then you are, which already occurs).

                      We are already assisting each other to co-ordinate attacks.

                      Universe 8 doesn't yet allow allied attacks.

                      I asked to share print screens of solar systems but as Skanky correctly points out, that information quickly becomes out of date. (and it seems that information on targets becomes quickly outdated as well)

                      Any other ideas on what else to do to make the alliance more efficient for everyone?

                        • You know allied members attacking together combining their fleets into a larger more powerful fleet. Currently only working in Uni 5.

                          I suspect that this will be our forum to discuss attacks and whatnot. I noticed that Skanky has crossed the 5K barrier. Unfortunately I don't think that we can help him until we too cross that barrier.

                            Multiple attacks with a strong assault in the first wave that breaks the main defenses (f.e. a big fleet in orbit) with the others as a follow up, only faced with planet defenses.

                            Something like this: (first wave detroyed his fleet, the last wave took his reserves.)

                            • Here are a selection of loaded planets that are beyond my level 3 espionage (I know, shameful isn't it. ) and 5 probes together, but which might interest thise with better spies than I, because they're stuffed with goodies:

                              All have a zero chance of counterespionage, so I don't think they'll be too tough to crack.
                              I'm still seeking a site for a colony though.
                              By the way, they're all active players, though none are in an alliance - my criteria being to avoid attacking those in an alliance unless they're (I).
