  • I've taught one of my suddenly-active cows a valuable lesson. A small shield by itself is quite worthless. It saved him from one wave of three attacks, but my next attack destroyed 20,000 resources worth of shield.

EDIT: Damn, he was lucky enough to rebuild it.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

    • Heh, funny you should mention shields... I'm building one right now. (then again, with 14 missile launchers and 9 small lasers it has backup.)

      Edit:
Joy, my shadower is scouting me again. I should have enough cargo capacity to life off most of my ill-gotten gains.

        • Bad link. You can still get to it via the link in the second thread. At least, you could yesterday. I haven't bothered to check today.

In other news, I will be hitting the colony of the person who hit mine. My defences should be able to stop him from getting me so hopefully I have nothing to lose.

Regarding defences, I have been following the advice from http://www.ogametips.com/25/building-defenses when building mine. All I've smashed is a few probes so far, but at least they haven't been tested. Generally, if someone is attacking you they will win as otherwise why would they attack? Noobs excluded, of course.

          • I just lost one of my raiding parties when going after a planet that I thought was defenseless (probe got through) but wasn't. Oops. Something tells me that I'm going to get visited soon. Fortunately, I've already got some basic defenses in place (bunch of small lasers).

            • That was the site I was trying to get the link to from the first thread. I want my mix to be 100 smalls, 50 heavies, 25 ions, 10 gauss, and 1-5 plasmas. Obviously, this is a long way off from realization...

Currently I'm at (in the above order) 29-10-0-0-0. I only just developed Ion tech. Once I get the laser stats in place I should be pretty well-off for the rest of it.

              • I just attacked a planet with 10 probes. I could steal 45 units of cargo that way. Unfortunately for me, the two small cargos on the planet countered me and kylled a probe. Seeing who owns the planet though, I understand why he hit me yesterday.

                lol probed LOL
The attacker has won the battle!
                He captures

                • I called off my attack with 6 seconds to spare. He had 14 battleships sitting on his planet. I would have had a 6% chance of a draw or otherwise been totally destroyed. He is returning the favour by sending 10 battleships to one of my colonies. I sent all its resources to my main base already, so its just damage control from here on out.

                  • Does the group have any opinion on where best to locate new colonies?

I expect to be sending my first early tomorrow. I was thinking of sending into an open slot in the next galaxy (I am in 3, there is an opening in 4) but not sure about the costs of traveling from one galaxy to the other).

I think that splitting them up gives me greater range but also makes it harder for one to help out the other.

                    Opinions?

                    • I've got a 9 1/2 hour queue in the shipyard, which does include 3 gauss cannons, my first colony ship, a new cruiser, some cargoes and bloody loads of missile launchers to use up my metal.
When the cargoes arrived back from that new cow, I had the first surplus of resources (figures in red), but the dumb thing is that you can still use them even if you have nowhere to put them.
Anyway, spent tonnes, and sent a couple of presents to Odin, and still have 50k+ of deut left. I haven't sent out any raids today - the pilots can have a bank holiday!

                          • I presume he hit the "leave alliance" button when he was trying to compare himself to Skanky.
I nearly did it once, and have been careful since.

                            • The overage in red of your resources is part of the game. You can go way over with raids, but your colony will not produce any more resources when they are red.

However, there is more. If you go red while off-line, your colony will still produce, once you come back on, it will not and will continue not to until you clear the reds.

                              Sparrow,

Slots 4-6 are considered optimal for colonies.
One system or two over is not too bad. It takes about two hours to do a round trip in system and 3-4 hours to do a round trip in a system close by. This will improve as your tech level improves.
We're sorry, the voices in my head are not available at this time. Please try back again soon.

                                I've done two colonies.

One on the three slot had 62 slots. Already got 52 slots filled!

One on the 14 slot has 115 slots.

Don't know what that really means.

But I've een thinking that if you establish a colony 50 galaxies away, and then build up so you can base some spy probes there, you'll get more information. You could also do relays on attacks, dropping off some supplies and then sending off the rest to other colonies.
