Lime roots and treachery!

Transport is what snotty did when he sent you some "assistance" (and what Atragon did for me).
* Sparrowhawk
And, in the later stages of the game, you use for sending supplies to your colonies, or even later, you use to transport stuff overnight so you don't get robbed (you use slow speed then so it takes 10 hours or so to arrive)
This is called Fleetsaving in the Ogame slang.
some of the targets on the list I send you have quite a good infrastructure. This means you will be able to attack those target quite a lot.
The ones with a build level of 15 to 17 will renew quicker then you can pillage at this stage. Send out probes once you can. All you need is info up to the defense level. 3 probes will probably do, but even one can suffice .
Just got my first substantial haul from an inactive today, the full load of 5050 units of stuff. I've now got three raiding parties active; I'm planning on increasing my computer tech so I can do more raiding (plus probing, once I hit espionage 2). I'm lucky in that I haven't hit upon ANY defended planets yet.
Are heavy fighters worth it? I'm going to get the Impulse 2 prereq eventually anyways, and I'm probably going to research Armor whenever I have more metal than I can presently use and can't build ships, so are they more cost-effective than regular fighters?

Even though the advice wasn't directed at me, thank you for it.
I'm about one hour away from having all the techs needed to build probes. This should be interesting.
Well, that gives me the chance to answer the fighter question:
You may need a few heavy fighters if you stumble upon an inactive with a few missile defenses. Otherwise: don't bother. There are plenty of rich/productive inactives in Uni 8 that you should be able to tag along untill you get cruisers.
So far all the fights I had were because somebody probed. I could have done without, but with all these cruisers floating around doing nothing...
Fleet-slots are a good investment. And possibly leave one open in a later stage so you can always ship off some recources if you get attacked.
Better invest in cargo's then in fighters is my opinion.
I have just discovered another incredible cow, and despite having sent all my spare cargoes, still won't be able to take half. Not part of an alliance, I'm astounded at how this planet can still be undefended and yet boast such bounty!
Not complaining, mind.

sometimes I get the idea that scanning for noobs doesn't pay off...
