You're talking not about playing, but about power-gaming, am I right?

Call it what you will. I like RPGs for the tactical elements, and I couldn't care less about whether my paladin would or wouldn't 'want' to group with a rogue. Let's face it, grown men role playing elves and orcs is a little silly.

By "tactical elements" you probably mean ignoring one game setting (alignment). There are D&D rules (mostly for board games though) out there, which even forbid you to form parties with alignments, farther than one step from yours. So as lawful good character you could group with another lawful good, a neutral good and a lawful neutral character, maybe a true neutral, but that's it. That NWN has not implemented alignments the way they should be is for sure one of its shortcomings.

Besides, I am probably about twice your age and still like a light roleplay, so I must be completely silly . For instance in Civ3 I used nuclear subs with tactical nukes, even though they move slow as hell and don't make much sense. And I play MMORPGs according to the lore; I would never play a dwarven wizard or a dark elven paladin.

Been playing about a bit. With hindsight, a Rogue/Ranger would have been better, to get the two weapon fighting for free. However I'm enjoying it now. Getting rid of the shield and going for a Rapier+Feyduster is proving pretty effective and stylish - very elven With Linu's cleric backup, it doesn't seem to be too taking. The odd strange boss that I have a bit of trouble with (Loxor killed me) but they seem to go well together.

Plus I now have a mace of disruption for when I next come across the undead

Ok, how do you get in the Dwarvern catacombs for the codex quest in foderol? I've talked to every dwarf I could find, but not one of them will help me. What am I supposed to do?

You need to get into the tower in the middle of Dwar Proper. For that you need a key. One of the Dwar Commoners is not all he seems...

Found the bastard! But it's odd that he gives such a key to a wandering adventurer, an elf no less. Also, there should be an option for elves to torture the dwarf smiths there to make them sell to you.

In a roleplay sense (and we're talking about RP games here), what type of paladin would make buddy-buddy with a thief and cutthroat? That would be against the lore, and a lawful good character (paladin) does not fit too well with a chaotic, evil (or even both!) rogue.
The Shadowbane Inquisitor, who, in fact, has to be a Paladin/Rogue or Cleric/Rogue. Of course, he has to take the Devoted Inquisitor feat before he can multiclass freely between Paladin and Rogue.

I've been puttering around with this a bit lately.
Have just discovered that the crafting skills my sorcerer has been developing apparently aren't implemented in the original campaign!

On the bright side though I've apparently put enough points into the right places to make a "dragon disciple" class viable.
                            Is this worth it?
I've hit level 10 as a sorcerer and am just starting to build up a bit as a mobile magical spell weapons platform.
I like the sound of the breath weapon bit but there's nothing that tells me how often I get to use it.
Is it at will or only 1/day or 1/level/day or something equally lousy?

No, there is a limit to its use, and although it looks really cool - as do the wings - it's not worth using if you have spells and/or a magic sword.
Take the DD levels though - they'll give you a massive strength boost, so you can deal death in two ways.

I wouldn't multiclass to RDD with Sorc, because straight sorcs are just amazing with the right feats and spells.

RDD is a nice multiclass for a support fighter, fighter/bard/rdd is popular.
