  • What the H is a property ladder? Sorry if it's obvious (it's 4am), but I have no idea what it is.

      • It's a common phrase over here Ralph, and Snoopy is right.

One thing he didn't cover is that it's a ladder because you buy something affordable to start with and usual switch to bigger homes as your life progresses. The first step is the biggest though.

          • At least His Majesty allows to further discuss Vanguard. I'm pleased.

                  • It would appear that Spike is the only one who wants to talk about Guild Wars, so I'm sure he could find the last thread about it and post to his heart's delight there.

When I said "property ladder", in case anyone didn't realise, then I meant I'd bought a house in Folderol. It's really annoying to place the furniture though. You have to be stood in exactly the right place, and facing the right direction for it to go where you want. There's no option for you to place a piece of furniture then drag and rotate it until it goes where you want it to. Instead you have to delete the piece and then move again until it fits.

Unfortunately I still can't afford to buy a house in real life. Well, not one in an area you wouldn't require kevlar armour to go to the corner shop.

                    • I have a tree house. It's the only house halfway fit for a ranger. I haven't been there for long, though. And yes, placing furniture sucks. Even in EQ2 it was easier and more accurate.

                      • Why people like to have houses in games I'll never know................

                        • Does GW not offer this perk?

Annoyingly, I've also got loads of loot from adventures with higher-ranked players that I won't be able to use for ages.
I'm tempted to sell it, but will want it back when I reach level 22 (or whatever), and no doubt someone else will have bought it by then. I can't store it anywhere - yet (the debates are still going on about some form of banking system in Folderol).

                          • To my knowledge, neither does World of Warcraft.

Houses, at least as far as I know them from EQ2, were a good money drain. Games need money drains for economy's sake. You had some good furniture to show off, the farther into the game, the nicer (as you could harvest better and better materials), you could put trophies on the wall from quests, you could mount weapons to the walls and put carpets on the floor. And there were a huge variety of accessoirs, from rustical wall chains over barrels, crates and brew utensils to work benches for tradeskills (which worked of course), market boards (to browse the brokers) and post boxes for the in-game mail. Various sconces, braziers and candelabra gave light from simple fire to magical glow. Especially the latter looked very nice.

Houses existed in many variations, from the simple inn room to a big comfortable mansion with lots of rooms. They cost a weekly rent dependent from size. There were even people who built their rooms into bars and helt RP events. Not my beef, but many players liked it.

                              • My Dwarf on Folderol has 7 million gp. I want a house that covers an entire area.

Other than that, I have nothing to buy.
