        • I get sick of players whining in this game:

          1) about Commanders
          2) about Squad leaders

Tonight, I played Commander on Sharqi Peninsula, so my team lets my whole equipment set get blown up within 1 minute and then gets on my case about not scanning. I was like, "I can't scan without radar." They did this to the next Commander too, and I told them to all shutup and help him. I was like, "he can't do anything without equipment." This one dude, must have been 8 or something says, "no he can do all sorts of Commander stuff." Those were almost his exact words, "Commander stuff."

I was like shutup already. So my kick azz squad takes charge for the next few games and then we win 3 in a row since our squad gets all the flags.

I only play Commander when I have to, when nobody else is doing it. So it's frustrating to take over and then people whine about it. But they want someone else to do their work. Equipment gets blown, then get your ass over there and help fix it.

Tonight my team got completely own3d by about 50 points. Funny though next game without me as Commander they got wiped off the map, the enemy took all of our spawn point within 10 minutes. Nobody could spawn at all, we lost.

Then tonight we also had this BIG DORK on our squad on the microphone. Our squad had a good leader, who was going around and getting all the flags. Our team is on the mic. This dork has the nerve to say tell the Squad Leader that he wants another squad member to form his own squad so he can spawn on him because he "has a higher survivability rate."

First of all, on that map, our Squad Leader was getting all the flags all by himself. None of the other squads were. Secondly, I think it's funny the dude asks someone else to form a squad so HE can spawn on him, like he is some special sheit. It's hilarious the people that act like they are know it alls on this game.

What a dork. I told the squad leader he was doing a good job, and I stayed with him for about 2 hours. We were owning Karkland, and it's hard for the Marines to own on that map. If you play the MEC on that map, all you have to do is plug the holes and keep the enemy out of the East, and that's pretty much it. You know, to keep them FROM BLOWING UP THE COMMANDER'S EQUIPMENT.

The best squads are the ones where there is alot of cooperation and people aren't demanding sheit of each other. Man, I've seen some really big dorks latley acting like they are top sh1t and just like to feel special because they want to boss everyone around.

But what is silly is when dudes kept parking the tanks and APCs right at the entrance to the city, but our squad pushed behind the lines and always got the rear spawn point. Every single time it was our squad. We were doing this repeatedly, and against alot of opposition too. It's not bragging to say that we won that game most of the time, meanwhile the other squads want to play Rambo at the front and grenade spam the opposition.

Like one guy is going to make a difference going up a fortified street covered by two APCs, a tank, a machine gun emplacement, multiple .50 cal jeeps, and about 25 infantry spawning behind protection.

          good lawd!

          • I look forward to the next patch, when you get points for blowing and repairing artillery and radar. I think more people will bother to do it then. As it is now, you don't even know if your team's stuff is up or not, as no one tells you (on public servers, at least).

There is no death more annoying than artillery, and I usually experience it a few times per round. Note to self: Spawn special forces next time, and flank the map to blow the stuff. No one will repair it.

The patch was scheduled for release in August, but they have pulled the date and not given a new one. (I wish I had a € for every time I saw a software developer do that )

            • I think the map usually shows each piece of equipment in yellow when it's down. When it's back in operation, it goes back into black.

But yeah you're right most people don't pay attention to the equipment and call out when it's down.

Blowing stuff up is fun. I like having the luxury of working with a squad that spends the whole game keeping the other team's equipment down. It's pretty nerve racking (in a fun) way seeing how long you can keep your squad leader alive and how long you can keep their stuff down before they send their whole crew after you.

              • the commander can easily repair his own stuff by dropping supplies on it...

or by spawning as an engineer and repairing it by himself...

This game sounds really good. However, I'm not very patient and I doubt I could deal with playing with pick up groups, especially given the problems you mention. What capacity is there for arranged matching?

Yes, I do both of those things. It works especially well when the equipment is in an uncapturable base, and you can keep spawning on it as long as it takes to repair it.

The problem comes when the equipment is in a captured spawn point controlled by the enemy. You need at least a full squad to assist in getting the base back and holding it long enough to make repairs. If the other team is good, you may need 2 squads to get that base because they know how important it is and will make it a priority to keep you away from it.

I've spent entire games keeping an opposing Commander's equipment down. As soon as he drops supplies on the equipment, I lay down my C4 on both the equipment and the supply box, and then use his supply crate to reload my C4. Once I've reloaded, I detonate the C4, and am ready to move on to the next target. Boom! There goes the equipment again. He'll keep dropping supplies on the equipment but I'll keep blowing them up. He can never lay down supplies fast enough to keep the equipment up. And in fact his supply drops keep rearming me so I can blow up more of his stuff.

Even with the uncapturable spawn points, if you have a good squad and a squad leader committed to staying alive and getting good position, you can take an entire squad into an uncapturable spawn point and keep the opposing Commander's equipment down for a sustained amount of time. We've even done if for an entire round at times. The only way the other team was able to get us out of there was to commit 2 squads to kick us out of their base.

I'm not familiar with the arranged matching but I'm sure that it exists in a very large presense. I've met alot of cool players online and when you like each others style, you can keep track of each other.

There is a program called X-Fire where you can make friends and you can see when they are online and which server they are on.

So there are alot of tools out there for keeping track of people that you're familiar with.

I'm sure arranged matching is a big thing, I just personally don't know about it, though, now that I've played the game for a couple of months, I'm starting to play with players I'm familiar with.

I also know a couple of "real life" friends that play, so I play with them sometimes. This is the #1 selling game in the US right now, so there is a big chance that someone you know might be playing.

Regarding the problems I mentioned, I don't think you will really notice those until you've played for a few weeks, and figure out the rhythm and flow of the game, so I wouldn't be worried about them too much at first.

On some servers I've played, you would get banned for "Home Base Camping".

                        • Yep, you're right, sometimes it's a bannable offense.

Base camping is a really big no-no depending on the style of play on a particular server.

I used to be against it, but now I just go along with whatever the server rules are and play accordingly.

I've found 3 different views on it:

                          1) No home base camping whatsover
                          2) Home base camping is allowed at all times
                          3) Home base camping is only allowed when all the capturable spawn points are taken

But how does arranged matching work? If I understand it correctly there is 8v8, 16v16, and 32v32. Do you need a full 8/16/32 to have an arranged match?

                            • No, you don't have to have the full amount.

You could do a 4 on 4 if you wanted to.

In that case you would have to lock the server out though.

Or, if you didn't mind other people show up that you don't know.

For example, if you were on a 16 player server, but each team only had 5 people, the other slots (if the server was not locked) would be filled in by strangers.

                              • So say I had 8 players, and I wanted to play another 8 players. What options do I have? And how does it compare to the random matching?
