Is it just me or are the choppers flyng commands reversed from those in BF Vietnam? I can't fly those &^#%$&^%#$

go to your controls menu in options and invert the mouse

be sure to do it for jets and choppers, there are seperate sections for each vehicle

it's still a bugger: i never changed the mouse settings in BFV so why do i have to change them for BF2... couldn't they pur the same deafult values in both games and, and...

I have had to open a server and play alone to get stick time and helps a lot

It comes out September 26th.

It's a WW2 first person shooter. Team based oriented, using the Half-Life 2 Source game engine.

There aren't vehicles like in BF2, it's more like close quarters combat. It's extremely intense and fast paced.

Day of Defeat: Source is basically the update to Day of Defeat, a popular WW2 online game. http://www.dayofdefeat.net/

You should check it out. It's good.

And I think it's only $20 to buy on it's own. I got it as part of the Half-Life 2 silver package. Go to my thread and you can get to the Steam website to download Steam. It's a game launcher that will let you purchase the game online if you want. It will download everything for you so you don't even have to go to a store.

sort of... the maps are different though. They are very specialized and designed with specific goals in mind. It's kind of hard to explain.

The weapons are different than those games. With the K98 rifle, for instance, one shot is usually enough to kill.

Also, infantrymen get a shovel as a melee weapon. You don't understand how fun it is to shovel a guy to death.

The thing that is good about using Half-Life 2's engine is the voice communication. It's really easy to use a headset to communicate with teamates. In BF2 it's hard.

There are a lot of player classes too. Each has a different kind of weapon like in BF2: "scout, infantry, sergeant, machine gunner, and more, each with a unique arsenal of historical weaponry at their disposal" What's cool is the machine gunner uses heavy duty machine guns. Like the germans use the MG42 or the MG34. But you have to go to prone position and deploy it to use it. Once its deployed, you can mow down guys instantly. One click and poof, guys are annihilated. It's much more realistic than Battlefield 2 where guys can take like 6 or 7 shots for a heavy duty machine gun.

In one burst with the MG42, you can easily kill 3 or 4 guys if they are running in a group together.

You'd have to use some external means of communication to set these matches up.

There are all sorts of leagues for doing this.

Some teams just rely on email and MSN Messenger, etc. to communicate their matches, etc.

So it seems like the matchmaking is quite basic then. I would have thought you'd be able to select a team and be matched with another team of similar skill.

No, there isn't much built in for that sort of thing. It relies on the users to come up with those tools.
