Just learned some cool new features, they keep track of your stats, and on some servers, you can "unlock" special weapons for each kit. For example, the medic kit has an upgraded rifle from the M16, some British model with an enhanced scope on it. It is excellent for medium-long range shooting. They also hand out medals for outstanding performance, for example, if you defend a flag and take out 10 guys in one stand.

I like to shoot snipers with the special weapon.

It seems helicopters rule most maps. As long as you can keep your chopper in the air, you can dominate pretty well. A BlackHawk carrying troops escorted by a gunship to destroy armor will win the day.

I've been on some maps where all the spawns were taken in less than 5 minutes, because of the rapid movement of a fully loaded BlackHawk.

In other news, I have pretty much neglected eating, sleep, and excercise for the past 2 weeks straight.

An article in Dagens Industri (a daily swedish business paper) states that BF2 threatens Counterstrike's position as the number one on-line game...

They quote statistics from Gamespy.com (I haven't verified it) and also interview Digital Illusion's (the developing firm) chief executive... They expect to sell 1.5 - 2 million copies of the game...

Link to DI (in swedish, so pretty useless I guess... ):

          From TeamXbox:

Last week, we reported on Digital Illusions' development plans for next generation consoles from both Microsoft and Sony. Today, in a Swedish-only press release, Digital Illusions CE (DICE) announced that Battlefield Modern Combat will be developed for the Xbox successor.

Interestingly, the release schedule for the game is the same for current consoles and the "MS Nextgen": Fall 2005. This release date certainly hints that the rumors of a Fall 2005 launch date for the Xbox successor might be true.

This information comes just after EA's announcement of a tender offer for all outstanding shares of the Swedish game developer.

I certainly hopeed this was going to be released for the 360. Thank you DI

well, there is an option for autobalance

but normally u pick whom you want to be on as long as temas are not overly unbalanced in numbers..

this reminds me, I used to play the Rogue Spear series a lot at MSN..I sometimes would play and have to answer the duh-huh question "Are you in a clan?" then I would say no I just wanna play and then would get the boot or get talked smakck to..

I changed my name to something like C.S.M.A.Major Payne 4U..

              Code:
              C.(Clans)S.($u@k)M (Major)A (ar$e)

Next thing people be wanting me to join or vice versa

now since this game has come out the servers available are fairly limited

              some are 16, some 32 and a few 64

I swear some knuckledheads try dialup hosting sometimes

              you can't miss it

a big old connection interrupted message across the screen

Lots of fun though all in all

You can either join a squad, or go solo. In a squad you get info from the commander. If the commander sucks, you can vote to have him kicked out. But you'll always be susceptibles to newbies unless you join a "clan" or something.

When I take this up I will definitely join a clan. It's the only long term way to play I think.

yes, if ou can find the time. I once belonged to a clan or rather attended some meetings during the Delta Force2 days. I loved the game met some folks on the server and hit it off. But, when we started to train, I actually got taken to task for putting real life, at the time my wife had alsmot died and gotta tell ya, didnt have time to dedicate to wet nursing some wanna be's..........

I love gaming and to me its a way to unwind from the office, like posting here, I do it because I enjoy it, if I didnt well then, I would not return.

Have fun Dr Spike, hope you get the chance to get some time in playing, you will enjoy

                        Awesome.

I can believe it. I played CounterStrike for a couple of months. It is a fun game, but I like the depth of Battlefield better.

The best thing about Battlefield is that momentum and swings in the game. You see what the enemy is doing and adapt to it. Counterstrike, once you're dead, you're dead. For example, my favorite part is when your team is down to one base, and you are desparatley trying to escape to get another base. Pretty much the entire enemy army is bearing down on your last base and your army is rapidly being destroyed, unless someone can get out and capture another base.

But even if you get to the other base, they will see it, and you have to hang onto it long enough for your team to get access., and spawn to defend it. It's also hard when they find out about you. They know exactly where the flag is so they know you're going to be right next to it. But, if you're trying to defend the flag, and you're all by yourself, they could come from any direction.

I have to say I prefer the Middle Eastern maps to the Chinese ones. The Chinese maps tend to be too big and require too much vehicle movement to get from place to place, especially when there is alot of water, you spend half of your time just trying to figure out how to get to the other base.

That's why I like the Middle Eastern maps, as they are mostly street fighting.

There are two maps that come to mind, one has the television station on it, and the other has a really big mosque, where the Americans start at one end of the city and have to penetrate all the way to the other end.

                        "MEDIC!!!!!"

*Ted runs avoiding fire to revive the fallen comrade*

I learned to fly a jet yesterday on an empty server. It was surprisingly easy, only took about 30 minutes. You use your keys for major turning, and use the mouse for minor tweaking in movement. It looks like it will take some time to master strafing, as you have to be high enough to be able to dive down without hitting the ground, but not so high that you can't see anything.

Helicopter is still wayyyyy too hard.

I'd like to join one someday too. I'm going for vacation, but when I return, I want to get a group together badly. I'd like to figure out the audio portion of it, as I can't get my microphone to work properly.

The clans that play with audio will kill any other team by a landslide.

                            OOGALA KOOGALA!!!

Which reminds me, one of the more hilarious parts in the game is when a Marine is standing there grenade spamming, announcing to everybody around him, "FRAG GRENADE," and then you sneak up on him and put that to a stop.

I want to know who does all the voices on this game. I know they are famous actors.

I want to hit it with that Iraqi UAV chick. Maybe I can get that as a ringtone on my phone or something.
