ooh, Deus Ex... one of the best games ever made. Too bad they ruined the franchise with a lousy sequel...
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

I wouldn't say lousy. More like average.

I would say lousy. On the other hand, I only ever played the demo.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

            Then you wouldn't know.

It aint great, but it's tough to measure up to a classic. If it was a standalone game you'd call it average.

Its available as a £4.99 budget release. I've picked up the case a few times and thought i should get it as i've never played it. I actualy have a PC that would run it too.
Still do i really need more games to sink alot of time into?

I think the answer is yes

So... My brother is a traitor, eh? Or is it a hero?

He raised enough doubt in me in Hangar 747; I didn't kill the russian guy... Anna Navarre took care of him, though; amazing how she can pop up everywhere without problems... No bonus for me when I met Menderley...

Seems I will have to choose a side in the near future... Who's telling the truth and who's not... We will see...

One complaint, though... The AI is not extremely difficult, is it (or is that because I'm not playing the toughest level yet)? Strange how alarms can be set off only to stop seconds later and noone comes to kill me... Shoot a guy and his friends 50 meters away won't notice or lift a finger to assault you...

A question: can you buy a higher level of an ability (say swimming) only to sell it straight away (after your swim) and buy back your original configuration? Or is that considered a cheat?

Is there no way of sneaking up on people without having to crouch? If I walk straight there is always a walking noice (but less compared to running)...

                  Still no spoilers, please.

Once an alarm goes off, soldiers are much quicker to act and no longer dismiss noises that they've heard, I believe.

I never played on any difficulty setting besides realistic, so i can't say if thats your problem. But the game can be very tough on Realistic.

There are augmentations that can help in this regard, if you haven't found them already, you'll know when you do. Otherwise the best way of sneaking up would probably be to use tranquilizer darts, and then run up and knock the guy out while he's choking. (If I'm remembering correctly - it's been a while)

Yes, that's my favourite weapon (together with the electric prod)! Just as in real life I don't like attention around my person. The problem is that it takes a while before the target is tranquilised, so if he's close to an alarm panel he will easily set it off... But then again, that's not a big problem (see my post above)...

Tranquiliser darts make the person hit aware that there is someone hostile around (duh) and causes them to actively search for you. The people directly around them will also be alerted. Until they become knocked out they will be awake and able to move, only every so often they will say freeze for a second as the poison does its work.
The gas grenade causes people to not move.

Once you buy a higher level ability, you cannot sell it back. Its been a while, but I'm pretty sure on this.

That would be the way I want it! A sunk cost as we economists would call it... What's the point if the trade-off is not there and you can (momentarily) have any ability you need?

It's just that I seem to remember having done it... Easy enough to check next time...

It's been a while since I played Deus Ex, but I think that Skanky is right about the higher level ability. Once you buy it, you cannot sell it back.

AFAIK, the only way to sneak up on people is crouching. At least that's what I always did, because I thought it made sense.

                              I usually just walked slowly.

You can do it in the very beginning. During character creation you start off with a skill in handguns which you can downgrade. That's it though AFAIK.
