I dunno guys. In MP as my sorc I live in fear of con drain poison. Theres a few nasty scouts about that can nail you with a high DC one of those, and youre down to 3 con. Or hit you with a strength one and you cant run away. Maybe better for PvP than for any real use in single player though.
Heal kit works if you are fast, or just pop an antidote and you are away.

one part where poision is strong (or annoying) is when fighting that giant spider thing. I believe it was in HOTU- can't remember which chapter.
Not by chance the 3 instances of the bloated dire spider in chapter 1 of the original campaign? 2 of them are in the Harbor District and one in Beggars Nest. They are really annoying, because you are still low on level (5-7), really don't have much HPs, and these things use poison and in addition are real knockdown masters. The only way to fight them reliably well is by wearing a Thieves Hood (protects from both poison and knockdown), but these sell for ~8000, which is quite an investment that early in the game and can only be worn if you have either at least one rogue level (which you should anyway), or are a bard with a high enough UMD.

nope, I'm talking about a different spider. It's been a while since I played the original campaign, I don't remember having much trouble with these.
This spider you have to sneak around (you have to find a way to open up a back route) and decipher these stone columns. I think it's easier to fight the spider after you do that.
Oh the Bebilith is a demon. Just LOOKS like a hugeass spider. That whole antimagic dungeon is a pain anyway, and thank god they made it optional.

So what is your favorite module so far? I'm playing the original campaign right now. I'm still in the first chapter, in Blacklake district. Can't say I'm impressed so far. Too much hack and slash for my taste. And Lady Aribeth is soooo annoying. I'd love to cut her throat.

Can anyone recommend a module that would be easy to download (not an enormous file please) in which I can use some different character races. I'm tempted to be an ogre mage, or something equally odd, but can't play Folderol or any of the servers with additional races.

I played the expansions first. I'm glad I did because they are much better than the OC.
the expansions are less hack and slash than the OC of the first game.
But you will find some slow downs in other chapters, where you will have more dialogue, and decisions to make. They don't have a huge impact on the game though, it's just a role playing thing.
