The other thread is above 500, so I'll create another one for your viewing and posting pleasure. We were recently talking about SOU, and the battle with J'nah.

First time I fought her I managed to disrupt her spell when she was casting her fire aura spell. Didnt know at the time how lucky I was, then she took me apart with lightning bolts. Every other time I got roasted by her aura

Im suprised at how big the fights get in HotU already. I gained 2 levels in that hall of the kings

        I breezed through J'nai.

        Snotty, wait until the end.

I just got NWN platinum edition, it includes NWN with both expansion packs. I've been playing the original campaign for a while now. I like it so far. My henchman, a death worshiping monk, kicks ass. But he can be irritating at times. Why can't I give him potions? Why can't he carry stuff around?

Because in the original game, henchmen couldn't carry stuff.

place a potion on his picture and he will drink it.

Some questions about fan-made modules. After downloading one, in what folder do I put it? In the "modules" folder?

Are modules made for older versions of the game compatible with newer versions? Can I play, for example, a SOU-1.61 module like excrucio eternum with my version of NWN, which is 1.65? Or do I have to make sure that the module was made for 1.65?

Yeah it's annoying. SoU has henchman inventory though.

And as Tubby said, potions do work.

I loved NWN until I got tired of killing zombies in endless waves to obtain an item to finish a quest so I could start another quest where I had to kill zombies in endless waves to obtain an item to finish the quest so I could start another...and so on and so on.

                      Turn undead!

I sort of cheated my way throught the J'nah fight with my ranger/assassin. I went to visit the hermit outside the caves and bought the wizard robes that protect against electrical attacks, which meant that I hardly took any damage from her lightning spells. Then I kicked her arse with the short sword I took from the ice kobolds' lair.
I'm up to the interlude now with ranger (6), assassin (1), wizard (1), and have just gone though the fight with the scorpion men right at the beginning, but done little else. The duchess is away again this evening, so I ought to get quite a bit more done.
"Any last words?" "How about.... phylactery!!!"
It is a pretty cool thing though. If I had kept it, can you use it in other fights, to turn yourself into a frost giant when you need to?

Yes, put it in the "modules" folder, and any haks in the "Haks" folder, then start the module by clicking on New, then Other Modules.

And Yes, most mods are backwards compatible (with a few exceptions)

anybody have a problem with the movies and cutscenes at the start of chapter 2 in SOU. For some reason it malfunctions on my computer. This is the same computer I had last June when I played SOU. Although maybe I had problems last June, but cannot remember.

The movies starts freezing up, then the load screen comes up, it takes forever to load, and eventually the game stops responding. ctrl-alt-delete notes the game is not responding.

Eventually I got through it by quickly hitting escape during the movie and the cutscene. I don't have any problems with any of the other movies or cutscenes. Strange. The only thing different is I updated to 1.65 version.

yep those modules are good. There are 2 eternum scenearios. I recommend them. They are pretty good. The 2nd one is even better than the first (though less voice acting).

You can run mods made for the older versions of the game. And yes put them in your module folder. Read the read me that comes with the module. It will have instructions. Many modules have a hak pack. The hak files go in the hak folder. Also some modules have music and movies. And I believe Eterunum does. They go in the music and movies folders. The readme will tell you which ones. It's kind of a pain at first, but you get used to it. It's worth it to play great fan made scenarios.

often what I'll do is unzip them to it's own folder. And then manually drag the appropiate files to the appropiate folders. That way, I'm sure nothing gets "lost". Or just unzip them to your desktop, and drag the hak files to the hak folder, and the movie files (I can't remember the extention- the readme will say) to the movie folder, etc.
