Yeah, don't just blame your hardware. Update drivers, Direct X, check for spyware or other malicious intruders (particularly given the browser crash, which is a key symptom) and then see what happens.

Yeah, I know. There's even a name for my problem: infinite loop. And I'm starting to feel it will be a ***** to solve. I have been on the ATI website and tried most of the software-related solutions they suggest. I have the latest drivers, the latest bios, the latest DirectX...

check for spyware or other malicious intruders (particularly given the browser crash, which is a key symptom) and then see what happens.
You're maybe on to something here.

I see a lot of people have problems with ATI- especially with KOTOR2 if you are thinking of buying it.

I have an ati though, I really haven't had too many problems *knocks on wood*. It's tough to say what it is, certain setups and configurations combined with certain drivers seem to cause problem.

I'm using older catalyst drivers which work great for me. they always say to update drivers, but many people are finding the older drivers work with KOTOR2. I'm using 4.11 drivers right now. The for stands for 2004, so that lets you know how old they are.

My next card will probably be nvidia though. They seem to have less problems. Unfortunately they are more expensive.

many games seem to be programmed for them. In the that case it was programmed for the X-box, which I heard uses an nvidia type graphics card.

I don't think that ATI card owners have more problems, overall, than those with nvidias. Yours works fine. One of my friends has a Radeon 9550, just like mine, and he didn't have a single problem. And remember that my problem, the infinite loop problem, is not specific to ATI.

As for KOTOR 2, if I buy it (I don't think I will), I'll get the Xbox version. That's one of the things I like about consoles: you don't have to put up with crap like this.

but then you never get patches . I'm not sure if it needs a patch, but I know the first one had a few minor issues.

anyways, I'm getting a little off-topic here. sorry.

Apply poison (I think it's called) is a skill, but assassins get it at level 1 anyway*.
None of the shops that I have been to so far have sold poison - I always check the other items screen just in case.

                * Well maybe they don't get the skill per se, but they automatically succeed in applying poison to weapons, which is even better.

Maybe it wasn't called poison, but rather 'spider venom' or some such. I never used it, but somebody sells it in the SP campaign. Seperated into things like 'mild' and 'strong.' If I weren't at this place called "Work" (whatever that means) I'd check, but I'll have to wait until I go home.
                  I know I didn't dream it.

I believe you can buy poison in the official campaign of Hordes of the Underdark. In chapter 1 in the shop in the city (waterdeep)

It didn't seem that great. But poison isn't that great in this game. Posion should take off hitpoints, I don't know what they were thinking.

Poison is really strong. Sometimes you have to rest, and even maybe use 1 whole antidote.

one part where poision is strong (or annoying) is when fighting that giant spider thing. I believe it was in HOTU- can't remember which chapter.

I dunno guys. In MP as my sorc I live in fear of con drain poison. Theres a few nasty scouts about that can nail you with a high DC one of those, and youre down to 3 con. Or hit you with a strength one and you cant run away. Maybe better for PvP than for any real use in single player though.

The trouble is that I'm playing SoU, and assassins (and presumably the ability to use poison) weren't introduced until the HotU expansion.
I suppose that if I really wanted to use it then I could always: press the ~ key, type poisoned jam(ski), and then use that on my weapon as I suddenly find my pack full of poison.

I tidied up the first level of the stinger caves last night, and am ready to descend into the next level. Trouble is, it's far less difficult now that I've picked up an amulet of health and cannot be affected by poison, which makes the fights with stingers too easy. But I'm not going to take it off!

The Blackguard can poison weapons also.

Did that kit come with HotU or SoU though?
