I played the expansions first. I'm glad I did because they are much better than the OC.
That's good to hear. Besides NWN, I'm also playing Vampire: the masquerade bloodlines. And compared to Vampire, the OC plays like some sort of advanced Diablo. I downloaded Excrucium Eternum (or something like that), and so far it's pretty intriguing.

don't forget the sequal to Eternum.

edit: oh you are playing the sequal. well don't forget the prequal then. . The sequal is better, but the prequal is interesting. Lots of voice acting. And it's not half bad either.

I tried to download the prequel on Neverwinter Vault, but what I downloaded was an unidentified file that I couln't open. Do I have to register to download files? The bastard of Korsigan series (in french) also look pretty good, but I had the same problem when I downloaded it.

it should come in a zip file. Use winzip or winrar to open it. And manually drag the files to the hak, mod, sound, and movie folders.

It could be a .rar file, and you'd need Winrar to open it in that case.

I can't unzip files with the program that's built in XP? Yet I managed to unzip the file for the Eternum sequel. Normally, you can see the .zip or .rar extension, even though you don't have winzip or winrar. But the files I downloaded didn't even have an extension.

If it doesn't you may need to add it. Otherwise when you double click it it's just a random file your computer doesn't know how to deal with.

Stuff you download should have extensions though.

You can unzip .zip files with Winzip.

You can extract .rar files with Winrar.

These are the two most common types of compressed folder used. Winrar will open some other rarer types for you too.

The advantage of .rar files is that they can be compressed smaller.

Does that help to explain? A file without an extension at all though... I have no idea. I've never seen one, to the best of my knowledge.

I know about winzip and winrar. But I was under the impression that a program similar to these two came with Windows XP.

Maybe it was corrupted or something. I'll try again later.

                    • Ok, it works. I don't know why it didn't work the first time. Maybe there are download limits, or the files just got corrupted. Anyway, problem solved. Thanks!

Btw, you don't need Winzip to unzip files, Windows does it for you. Sorry if its old news, but I'm new to XP.

                      • I don't trust windows. Even though I use it as my operating system.

Or maybe I like having redundant programs on my computer. Old habits die hard.

Oh yeah, I've been using '98 too much. Yeah, one of XP's more useful features.

                          • I get it! You're all roleplaying this fan-written module about a load of computer geeks, and you're all just getting into character!

I haven't had the chance to play any more NWN recently, so there is no update on what I will find on the second level of the stinger caves yet.
                            Monday, hopefully! Definitely Tuesday though.
