      • yes I have. I'm not sure how much play time I'll get out of this game. I figure about 50 hours. That's really not too bad for a game. Too many games I've only gotten about 1 hour of playtime from .

        • I couldn't find any info on it, but anyone heard if it might come to xbox? The specs could just about handle it and i think i'd rather go for Sims2 than the older titles - its looking like an interesting game

            • I'm doing a lot better now. I guess starting as a bachelor alone in a house, while purchasing your own lot and building your own home is difficult.

The problem is you start with all your skills at 0 and begin aging in adulthood.

It's going to be very difficult to max out in my career. I only have 9 days left until I'm an old geezer.

But I'm doing much better today than yesterday. Except I forgot to save my game all day for about 4 hours of play and my game crashed . I was pissed. Especially since I got those texts while you are working that allows you to jump ahead 2 or 3 promotions if you happen to have good luck on the random chance. When I reloaded that didn't happen . I'm only a science teacher now . With 9 days to go.

My only hope is my child can do better. But she's a girl. And I do want grandkids. I could have another kid, but 1 is a handfull . I guess I could have her husband stay at home with the kids. As it seems breast feeding is not part of this game. It doesnt' matter who teaches the kid I suppose.

I had my wife quit her job. She still has to teach the kid to go potty and walk. No time for work. It's hard juggling a baby and getting any sleep.

              • One more question. My baby just turned into a toddler. But I can't seem to find anything for her to sleep on. I have a crib, but that doesn't seem to work. I also bought a regular bed, but that doesn't seem to work either. Is there some menu I'm missing?

What do toddlers sleep on? How do you control the damn things?

You can tell I've never had kids

                • Toddlers sleep in the crib (or the floor, if you like to neglect them). Bear in mind you cannot order Toddlers around much, you need to get an adult to put them in the crib. As the toddler learns to talk etc they can be given more implicit orders.

I so agree, my Sims never get a full nights sleep when they are looking after babies/toddlers.

Btw in my limited experience it does seem to matter who teaches the child. Because my male sims are knowledge types, they naturally want to teach children, so I let them do that, while their romance wife does other things. The kids seem to end up much closer stat-wise to their dad than mum, this may be a co-incidence but I like to think it's because their daddy (or in one case, mummy) taught them everything they know.
Ofcourse it still doesn't really matter, but it does seem to make a difference.

And yes, Sims starting as Adults will live shorter, less fullfilled lives than those raised from babies.

                  • One thing I would like to try is to have 2 adults and 6 babies, when they first move in, and see if I can manage it

                          • I just started the "torture campaign", not quite as I said, but still...
First I have the couple Carl (who wears a viking helmet and farmer clothes ) and Celine... they both got a job in law enforcement
The first thing they did when they arrived at their new home was "trying to get a child" and apparently it worked, so now a new one is on the way... as soon as that one arrives, they'll try again...and again and again... until they have 6 kids

                            • With my first family aspiration experience (my Crazy Uncle character married Brandi Broke) after one child, her aspiration was HAVE 10 CHILDREN! However after a while it went away, then a bit later she got the fear "Have a baby" that NEVER went away

Family Aspiration types are so hard to satisfy, it's not bad if they have a constant stream of new babies to raise - but thats pretty hard on the player, and the Sim! They are definitely the most work, altough possibly also the most rewarding.

I tried a solo Fortune sim, and found Fortune to be pretty easy, because they nearly always get AP for gaining the skills required for the next level of the job, so you can get on a roll. But they enter a serious rutt if they lose their job, when they don't need to gain new skill points or friends all they want to do is buy expensive crap like paintings, and they can't buy those because their income sucks because they can't get Platinum mood for lots of promotions!

Popularity is good for the Friends-whore in the family, not really for career types.

Knowledge is always good, because Knowledge types get AP for learning skills regardless of whether they need them for the job or not. They also love stargaze. Just a pity they are so obsessed with Ghosts and being saved from death - it's unhealthy I tell you! (however if you have ghosts, then being obsessed with Ghots is a good thing)

But ofcourse Romance is the easiest, all they want is Woohoo, Woohoo in Bed, Woohoo in Hottub and Woohoo with Sim. Maybe a bit of Public Woohoo and Woohoo with 3 different Sims and Public Woohoo with 3 different Sims. Romance? Pfffft

                              • what's AP?

and yes my guy (modelled after me) is a knowledge type. I get those damn ghost things all the time. How can I get a ghost. I guess I can move someone in and kill them. But that's no fun. My first run through I'm playing a nice guy. Maybe later I'll be sadistic- but it won't be to the sim modelled after me. I'll create a new family for that.

It's annoying because my wife wants to woohoo with 3 different sims, and flirt with other guys. I never let her of course. whore

That reminds me. How much do you guys control your sims? I still micromanage them like I did in Sims 1. I rarely let them go on their own free will. Although I suppose I can with my wife now she quit her job. Hopefully she's smart enough to take care of the kid. This is why I find the game challengin enough and not too easy. Because I control everything- even if that means pausing the game to reassign order. And I have 5 of those money trees I have to harvest every 8 hours. I'm not sure if it's worth it for an extra $200.

I ask if it's worth it because I have a decent amount of money. but really nothing to spend it on. I could build a bigger house, but what's the point? Smaller houses are more efficient. I can't imagine how long it would take to get to work in a 4 story house. I often let the car pool wait outside for 50 or 55 minutes before I get in. That's valuabe time I could use for something else. And I don't have time to waste it going down stairs.
